A drunken playboy stands to lose a wealthy inheritance when he falls for a woman his family doesn't like. Despite Helen Mirren's and Jennifer Garner's unbelievable charm and comedic elements 'Arthur' has a main star that feels kinda miscasted and as cool as it might have been watching Val Kilmer's Batsuit from Batman Forever and the DeLorean from Back to the Future Brand is too silly to be taken serious. Greta Gerwig, Geraldine James, Luis Guzmán and Nick Nolte are also alright in their specific roles and overall this is a mediocre and 'ok' comedy that barely works thanks to the rest of the Cast.

Russell Brand is a questionable character at the best of times, but here he follows in Ricky Gervais' footsteps by being another Brit given their crack at a Hollywood comedy. And it's a right mess, not a patch on the original. Brand and co try their best, but its a weak script, and Brand tries and fails to make anything out of it.The only plus points are Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner.A dud comedy.

I watched the original 1981 movie and enjoyed it very much. This movie I didn't like at all. Maybe it was Russell Brand, he's too far out there for my taste. I watch comedies to laugh and forget the harshness of life's realities, this movie is worse than reality. It's too bizarre and painful to enjoy, at least in my opinion. The original Arthur with Dudley Moore was light-hearted, funny and benign. Russell Brand, in my opinion was a bad choice for this role as his personality is too weird and sinister to be funny. Yes, I am comparing this to the original, sorry but the creators in sense are attempting to sell the movie based on the original with viewers expecting something similar, I was. They should have created a totally different movie with a different title, etc... If one watches the movie they should be aware this movie is a totally different twist to the original.
