A bunch of hack art school grads are drawn to a murder party by some guy named Macon- who claims to be offering a $300,000 grant.Though, really he's just a fry cook that wants to kill everyone...so he can sell their art when they're dead.Originally, they were acting as a cabal- having lured a man named Paul to be murdered.Though, they quickly turn on each other...leaving Paul to run for his life...from one of two remaining murder part members- a man, named Bill- who is dressed as a Baseball Fury (from The Warriors) hailing an axe.He chases Paul into another art party, where Paul hides in a performance art exhibit...only to get a bunch of hipsters killed too. That is...until the tables turn...Like they say..."Everybody Dies!"...but...can you kill someone who is already dead to the world? This is a siiiiiiiiiiiiick gore-comedy film. That's action packed from start to finish. With awesome- very realistic- special effects.Highly enjoyable and entertaining.7.5 out of 10.

My quick rating 5,6/10. Fun yet very bizarre movie that follows a group that plans a murder party and drops a random invite on the street not really expecting anyone to show up to be killed, for real all in the name of "art" THe movie is basically humor, then drug induced inside jokes, then a complete full on blood bath. It is constant misfortune, turn of events, and strange coincidence that leads the whole story. Overall pretty damn funny and worth the watch. I personally had not sen this one before and glad I now did. Check it out if you get a chance. Just a small warning, the drug part of the movie drags on WAY too long. Beyond that, the gore makes up for it.

Murder Party comes to my attention by the Nostalgia Critic in one of his videos, which I find weird because he don't talk about indie ever, that make me think maybe this movie was that movie we all find at 3 a.m. in some obscure corner of TV and just give it a chance, pretty much what happened to me with "Stitches" another dark comedy I really recommend. Well, about Murder Party, I really love the subtle humor in it, they have this extravagant characters and they know how to use them. I personally love the Werewolf guy, he is patetic yet very human and his performance is just great. And the victim(Chris Sharp), plays like the perfect nerd who have no friends, you pity him but he seen fine with his life. There is just one thing... he acts too calm all the movie(except the chase and climax scene), these people are trying to kill him yet he look relaxed. Well that was odd to me till the end when they show you why(it need a pause and a little google search). Finally the effects... what can I say? They are sometimes great(werewolf mask), some times hilariously B or old school(like literally cutting from the victim to the murder and showing just the blood splashing on him). Great movie, give it a chance. Just like Stitches it pays tribute to terror movies and have a not-Hollywood humor that is really refreshing.

Originality scores big points with me and 'Murder Party' has that in spades. Its dark humor and plot twists elevates it to near perfection. The premise is really pretty straightforward and the majority of the film takes place in one room. So simple and so bloody brilliant! This film is hilarious and made me laugh out loud several times. The humor is wickedly dark and the dialog is sharp as a razor. The writing really was excellent and the group of actors deliver their lines perfectly. The group of artists are pretentious and self involved, but their inane chatter was highly entertaining. After the first half of the film I was thinking, I am totally digging this, but I'm not sure I would call it a horror film. But by the time the credits role it absolutely solidifies its placement in the genre. It is cheeky as hell and those final scenes were quite spectacularly bloody and extremely rewarding. Highly recommended! 'Murder Party' deserves a cult following, and I can't suggest more enthusiastically that you give this one a try next time you're looking for a rental.
