"Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na" is a nice romance...a good film for a date movie. When it begins, Jai (Imran Khan) and Aditi (Genelia D'Souza) are very good friends and have been for many years. They love to spend time with each other and although they are the opposite sex, they never have had any romantic notions towards each other. Instead, they are best friends....though folks around them assume the two will eventually marry. But when her parents propose that, the two are flabbergasted and quickly dismiss this notion. As a result, the two agree to help each other find the ideal spouse. Sadly, the girl chosen for Jai has a hellish family and the guy for Aditi turns out to be a violent jerk. Can Jai and Aditi recognize that their new partners are just not right for them and they get together themselves? In addition to this plot, Jai is torn because he'd been told his entire life that his father died, needlessly, because he was a man who despised violence and was killed when he tried, one time, to help folks work out their anger. As a result, Jai has always avoided fighting and is more of a comic figure. But, this story his mother's told him is a lie...and his father's ghost is hoping and praying that Jai learns the many ways and stands up for himself.Overall, this is a fun and sweet romance. It's also a great date movie...well worth your time and with a lot to like.

I was expecting a movie like Kal Ho Na Ho. One I would love instantly.I was disappointed. It started off weird. The airport scene was indeed very boring and overused. The friends very robot-like.And then we FINALLY see him and her. The stars. The one we know will win all the best debut awards this year. Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza.Imran Khan surprised me. I was expecting another mediocre, here in the industry because of relations but he is indeed good. Genelia is decent but needs to work on her accent. She also looks very similar to Sonai Kulkarni, who is a much better actress than she.The story was average. It had its moments. There were times when you were laughing very hard and times when you wanted to go hide under the seat because of the syrupy sweet, totally unrealistic lives and dialogs and story. It tried to teach parents some things as well. The situation with Imran's girlfriend's parents was a very good example and a bit believable as well. I hope parents learn from it.Had I not heard so much about it, I would not have been so disappointed. It was that I was expecting so much, so, so much, that I was so sorely disappointed. It could have done so much better. There were times when it could have shined. But it failed.I think that it is watchable, but only if you have no expectations.A cute romantic comedy, masala movie.6/10.

Every film associated with Aamir Khan has got his incomparable influence and JTYJA has also got the same despite of the fact that it's been directed by Abbas Tyrewala. The movie is fresh like a morning breeze though it has an old plot of "just friends and not lovers".No doubt, the brilliant music by A. R. Rahman is the first reason why you get attracted towards it, but after you have seen the movie, it's the acting of the young brigade which stays in your mind. The director has given full freedom to the actors and everyone is chilled out in the movie with no signs of stress or expectations to be fulfilled. The main points why the film works is its fresh outlook, new energetic & cool faces and above all the freak out language used in the script with carefree "Tu", "Tera" in the dialogues. It just takes you away from the formal "Aap" attitude and makes you feel more light. The story is not new and the narration is also quite similar to movies like "Chalte Chalte" (Shahrukh –Rani) where the friends are talking about the lead couple's affair & marriage. But it's the innocence of the new actors which works. The credit goes to the youth and young treatment in the movie. However there are certain scenes in which you feel the invisible presence of Aamir's special treatment somewhere at the back.In the acting arena, top marks go to Genelia Dsouza for her excellent act of a girl who doesn't know that she is in love. She is what you remember walking out the cinema hall. And second comes the debutant, Imran Khan, who has acted just as he is simply not worried about the fact that it's his launch pad. And for that he surely deserves praise. In the competitive world where every star son wants to outshine another, Imran shows that he damn cares about this competition and just wants to enjoy his work. The seniors in the movie, Ratna Pathak Shah & Naseer are enjoying their roles which is nice to see. And a very entertaining act is there by the brothers Arbaaz & Sohail in their unique comic style. Paresh Rawal looked like repeating himself from another film. Rest all were quite natural and enjoyable.Music by the maestro A.R. Rahman no doubt is outstanding with "Aditi" song standing at the top. Fresh voices surely have added more flavour to the movie. But I found the lyrics department rather weak. Apart from the "Aditi" track, rest could have been more expressive in content. In few words, the movie is fresh, has a young feel and above all makes you feel lighter in the world of heavy burdens. That's what makes it work.

Obviously after seeing hundreds of films (and reviewing over 150), i should be knowing a lot about movies, not the technical factors but simple things like originality, entertainment, music etc etc.But do i??!!! Expert No 1 - This is a fresh (original) film.Me- Is it ?? 6 friends 3 girls 3 guys 2 that are seeing each other 2 that are confused and 2 that are asexual (has anyone seen friends?), 2 people that love each other but don't know yet (lets not even talk about how FRESH THAT IS).Pleasing as watching end of college romantic comedies may be (hell even one of the American pies was one), ITS AS OLD AS MOVIES ITSELF.Expert No 2 - Mature and Subtle Portrayal of relationships and people.Me - Did we see the same movie. A villain whos probably as evil as gabbar given the context of the film. The other girl who had to be dumped. A talking portrait, EXTRA CHILL PARENTS (i wish each and every parent was really that chill in real life). This movie did have some special moments though, but most were anything but subtle, like the Khan Brothers, meeting the parents etc etc.Expert No 3 - All the actors did a superb job.Me- Did they Genelia still has difficulty in handling emotional scenes, and her dubbing/voice is at least 5 movies away from being even good, Imran Khan was actually quite good, but as the joker says "WHY SO SERIOUS", even in the comedy scenes there was an air of aloofness or seriousness about it, as if to say im here to do a serious job, and if the scene require comedy then i will processionally handle it.ALSO WHAT NOT MANY PEOPLE HAVE POINTED OUT IS THE SLOWISH PACE OF THE FILM, really there is only one story in the entire film and for that movie is quite long, its not like alternate tracks have been given much importance. The placement of songs and the fact that we feel compelled to play the whole song once we start it, is still annoying.ON MOST OF THE REST I AGREE WITH.Yes the acting is very good but lets not push it to superb.Yes the movie is funny most of the times when it wants to be.Yes some of the emotional scenes are actually tolerable for a drama hater like me.Yes this is one of the best movies this year (more from the lack of good movies i might add).Yes you must watch this movie (hell if you like movies (especially Hindi) what other choices do you have, and you will enjoy yourself). In all a very good if not great movie that should be watched if you like some good fun with the odd emotional moments.-s sluggish pace, bad use of songs, not fresh or original.+/-s acting superb???? maybe maybe not.+s mostly fun, concept still appeals after all this time, Genelia looks really nice (acting has nothing to do with the fact that i have semi- crush on her).total 7/10 (this movie actually met my expectations but im not factoring that so that others expectations are not to high, this movie once again gos to prove that if enough people tell you that a movie is superb you will believe it, QUITE FRANKLY I ENJOYED JAB WE MET MORE).BUT HELL, WHAT THE HELL DO I KNOW??.
