Excellent but underrated film
A brilliant film that helped define a genre
The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
First of all, i would like to say that every character in the movie has acted brilliantly. Hats off to Ayan Mukherjee. Ranbir Kapoor (Sid) has done a wonderful role. He carries the role effortlessly. Konkona Sen Sharma (Aisha) has done a great job . There are some instances in the movie where you feel a bit emotional, but you enjoy it, as it is a movie which describes the life of the present young generation......it is an enjoyable movie....i really loved it....
This is a darling of a movie. Completely opposite of the typical "Bollywood" movie, it is creative, engaging and entertaining. I became a fan of the lead actor, playing Sid, when he appeared in Sawaya. Although that movie was considered a flop, it too, was mesmerizing. Sid, however, was not the same flight into romantic fantasy, it was a charming picture of youth, maturation and true love. Rent this movie...you won't be disappointed and will come away refreshed and feeling happy!
Wake up Sid is a movie with a simple plot, a typical love story and a predictable ending...an average movie - WRONG!I stumbled upon this movie while surfing the net and decided to give it a try; and I'm more than pleased that I did. Everything about this movie just made me love it. Maybe it was the realistic script, the believable emotions portrayed by the every actor and not just the leads, or maybe it was the fairytale journey we're taken on throughout every second of this film. There were glitches here and there in the acting and the background score, but the film's beauty redeems it of all that. I was in a rut at the start of this movie, but by the end of it I must say I was pretty much in a euphoric state. The casting was perfect, from Chottu the servant, to Sid and Aisha the lead roles. Everyone seemed to fit perfectly into this picture perfect cast. Everything about this movie was pretty average, but when put together they made something that wasn't quite so average - a stunningly beautiful piece of work. The thing that struck me the most was just how raw and believable all the emotions were - from the unconditional love between a mother and son, to the forgiveness of a friend we've hurt. At some point of this movie, it stopped being a movie and started feeling more like your own life. Who of us couldn't picture ourselves as Sid, the guy looking to get something out of life more than just the fun parts; or Aisha, the ambitious girl trying to start a life of her own. Every scene was just so refreshing that you simply don't want this movie to end.By the end of the film and as the credits roll, I found myself smiling for no apparent reason, but this movie just made me feel so...happy, ecstatic even. This movie is just what a romantic comedy should be like and who better than bollywood to show us how it's done. 7/10
Nowadays every second movie is touted as a "Breath of fresh air" movie. So much so that i have started hating this word.Well it seems that there is a real shortage of subjects in our cinema. The remakes and "inspiring" mindset need to be changed.Literacy rate has grown up and so has the mindset of the people in varied fields including cinema. You can't deceit them by showing same content in different ways.In this crises comes out a movie WAKE UP SID which keeps my faith a bit alive. It brings something refreshing to word "fresh air".I watched it twice and loved the honesty of the attempt.I just got lost in the world of Sid.The screenplay was good ,music soulful ,screenplay was quite predictable albeit.Ranbir Kapoor is superb as Arrogant to Sober SID and made me think that he could have only done justice to it.He is honing his skills with each passing movie.Direction also to say the least commendable.Well as a cinema lover i would love to see more audacious and experimental cinema in coming years.
