Powerful
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
And it seems to me that to date I haven't seen a scene in which Hilary Duff cries and I believe, but it does not even get a little red eyes! So I hope that in future you do not put more scenes of that type.As for the rest of the film is just an attempt to make box lengthening the pull of the series. I wasn't expecting a movie but something a bit better, there are scenes that gave me a little bit of pain and some of the key characters are missing.Movie fit only for lovers of the Disney Channel TV show.
The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003): Dir: Jim Fall / Cast: Hilary Duff, Adam Lamberg, Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, Jake Thomas: I caught up on my reading during the nauseating premier of this film based on the kids TV program that should only be seen by prison inmates as a form of punishment. It reeks awfulness to the point where Tums should be distributed wherever it is screened. Ninety minutes of TV commercials about air freshener would be more worthy a ticket price. Hilary Duff plays graduate student Lizzie on a class trip to London where she is mistaken as a pop star and asked to replace her until the actual star gets her act together. She is assisted by her best friend who risks consequences when her strict teacher suspects that McGuire may not be ill after all. Lame setup with Duff involved in that ever familiar game of charades as McGuire dons a double life. Directed by Jim Fall with a clever plot solution. Aside from Duff there are a host of supporting players who will no doubt wish that they hadn't had this film on their resume. Adam Lamberg, Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine are cardboard and will likely need heavy therapy after being part of this spectacle. Will kids enjoy it? Perhaps, but the TV show hasn't the phenomenal backing that other TV shows turned films may have. It is simply a promotion for the T.V. show and about as exciting as a kick to the family jewels. Score: 3 / 10
I've seen the Lizzie McGuire TV series and I must say, the movie and the series are very different from each other.1) The sound has definitely improved, the TV series's sound was too loud but then it was decreased in the movie! Hmmm, wonder why? 2) The picture quality made remarkable progress, the movie was very high quality and bright and if you compare it to the TV series, boy you can see a huge change! 3) No more funny music! In the TV series, it had this weird, goofy music playing in various scenes, but I'm so glad it didn't in the movie, instead it had very dreamy and fun music (only in special occasions of the movie though!) 4) Lizzie's personality has changed, I mean in the TV series, she's a shy, average American girl, but in the movie I heard her say, "Bye bye, Lizzie McGuire, hello fabulous!" and has became more confident and more happy about herself, which is great! But to bring it to the conclusion, I thought this movie was one of Disney's best work ever! The performances from the cast were brilliant, especially the beautiful Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire) and the plot was great, I think it was a little dodgy in some parts, but thankfully not all! And it's so cool they made a movie of Lizzie McGuire, as for me, a typical Lizzie McGuire fan, loved it and hope to see more of her! So are you bored? Have nothing to do? A Lizzie McGuire fan? Then look no further, rent this movie on either DVD/Video, grab the delicious popcorn (and Coke), turn on the TV and get ready for over a hour of fun, excitement and laughs with Lizzie!
I watched the Lizzie show with my Seven-Year-Old sister once, and was immediately appalled. When the movie came out, I had to take her to see it, and I nearly vomited. The entire plot is lacking in development, and it is purely Hilary walking around with a boy toy and singing poorly. The scene with 'hair bleached by the sun' is extremely insulting to the fashion industry, which is hypocritical of Ms. Duff and her little girl clothes line. I mean, the singer Macguire is supposed to resemble is represented with black hair, and as a brunette, I know that dark hair doesn't get lighter. Obviously the pop star theme went to her head, 'cause this is almost certainly the beginning of her screeching career.
