Raise Your Voice
A coming-of-age story centered around a small-town singer brokenhearted by the death of her brother in a car crash, who had secretly submitted her for a summer session at a performing arts academy in Los Angeles. In the academy, she experiences a whole new way of life in the big city, far from the small town lifestyle she's used to.

You won't be disappointed!
Good movie but grossly overrated
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
I used to like hilary duff as a child but the older I got I couldn't stand her. this movie was OK. the lead was OK but since when did it be okay to lie to your own husband, brother and father? since when did it become okay to sneak out to go to a concert? there some believable parts and some that were not believable. There some major flaws in this movie for sure. this movie is maybe a 2 if on a scale at all. Jay and Teresa? the songs were OK but sounded a voice over on some of the songs. the movie is predictable. I think the story line in the movie needed work. there were too many things that were not adding up. how could anyone get accepted into music school with no training? the movie had potential however there major parts missing from the movie, how could anyone lie to make themselves happy? how could anyone go away to music school after losing a sibling? it was her fault he was dead in the first place, the more you watch the movie the more you want to throw something at the directors.
Hillary Duff of CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 1 and 2 stars in this plodding kids-oriented tale about a young singer who attends a summer music program at a private school in LA. Her father thinks she's visiting her aunt in the desert, since he is dead set against this. What might have been another SISTER ACT 2 or MR. HOLLAND'S OPUS, to name a couple of well-known movies about musically talented kids, proves to be a disaster. The director, who clearly was not up to the job, provides only bits and pieces of musical numbers and keeps the focus on Duff, who is not an actress and only a so-so singer. Frankly, she also does not look right for the part but I will be charitable here and keep mum about her physical failings. The big finale is a dud, due in no small measure to the cameraman and editor, who completely screw up the presentation of Duff's recital. A better script might have helped, too, as nothing happens in this movie that we haven't seen a hundred times before. Rita Wilson, Rebecca DeMornay and David Keith are wasted as the adults in Duff's life. Only John Corbett as one of Duff's instructors comes across as interesting and believable, but alas, he is a bit player here. Skip it.
Now your probably thinking, "He gave it 10 stars?? Only some horny 17 year old guy would give it that" and I'm not here to disagree. Seen it last night on TV and thought it was awesome... Storey was great, the feeling was good, and most of all the actors were top notch. Some say if you took Hillie and her music out of the movie, I wouldn't want a bar of this film... and that's probably true too. BUT! She was in it, so it made the movie a thrill to watch. You may call it bias, but its the fact. hell, put Hillie in the worst movie ever and ill give it 10 stars. 10/10
Whoa, this movie received mainly poor reviews from critics and did not live up to box office expectations garnering just $13,573,284....Now that's bad... But none of those critics saw the potential of this movie.... OK, the plot is a somewhat common in the world of movie industry. OK maybe many people expected more out of this. But think outside of the box for a moment. Watch the movie but first of all, take your egoistic-critic-character out when you do. Now, that's it.You would never see anything beyond what you think of it. Pay attention to the movie's moral lesson. Look at it closely. Then rate it...I, myself, have seen many movies that received really high reviews from critics but when I watched it, it doesn't really add up to the fact of its high ratings.I love this movie... Period... See it for yourselves but remember to throw away your... aw, you know it already so whats the point it saying it..
