I love this movie so much
Admirable film.
This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
How on earth does this film have a 4.8 average? I know some people automatically pan "found footage" movies, but give me a break. This is beautifully executed, tense as hell, and worthy of your time. The camera work deserves special mention, managing to both look like camcorder footage and serve as a clinic on how to work in low light and brilliant light to excellent effect. The sound design is brilliant as well - I watched this with headphones on and found the experience entirely immersive. In short, if the plot description interests you, don't be swayed by the low rating. This is a fine flick, as good as any found-footage film I've ever seen, and it's one of the scariest films I've seen - found-footage or not.
When it comes to films that i haven't heard of, Alien Abduction was one of them. Being a found footage horror fan, i was interested to see what this movie had to offer. I am a fan of the Alien sub genre in the horror department and although Skinwalker Ranch (another found footage alien horror film) had its moments i still felt like it missed an opportunity. However, where Skinwalker Ranch fails and Alien Abduction succeeds, is in the tension that the movie manages to create while never really letting go. You can feel the characters panic and you sense a genuine feeling of terror whenever the Aliens are on the screen! It never gets side tracked in any side stories, which gives the feeling of a relentless assault in a very strong fashion that wont allow you to catch your breath. Being a low budget horror film, it was a very impressive looking. The acting was good and the characters, although cardboard cutout, were not so unlikable that you couldn't stand them. Overall, its a simplistic film that has tricks up its sleeve that you have seen before, but its simplicity done very well, therefore managing to create something both fun and scary!
I'm a fan of horror flicks, but most these days seem to be a let down, and not as scary as they are made out to be (Paranormal Activity, I'm looking at you). I don't scare too easily, but this film managed to really get my heart going.Yes, the genre is a bit played out, but this is one of the better made found footage (and alien abduction) films in my opinion. Much better than Skinwalker Ranch. I also liked how they justified the camera being there. You have to basically accept that the aliens are more like horror movie monsters than most depictions of them, and that they're not going to just use their technology to track down the people and snatch them up (that would be boring) but rather try and get at them physically themselves. If you can accept that, then you'll be in for an intense ride. The acting is decent, but nothing to write home about. You don't see these movies for the acting though, but the way that they set the mood and create frightening situations, which this film did well. I especially liked how they let you know how something was going to go down. It creates a sense of helplessness, which adds to the atmosphere.I think the one mistake they made was that they showed the footage from the end right at the beginning, which kind of spoiled the ending, but other than that it was quite good.
I really liked this movie despite all the bad comments I've read so far and the low score got on IMDb. Well, alien movies are something that really thrill me and scare me at the same time, the simple idea of facing extraterrestrial beings knowing you can't fight them terrifies even the bravest man on Earth.First of all I'd like to emphasize the fact that aliens usually attack when the night falls but in this movie they show up even in the daylight , so it doesn't matter if it's either night or day, you can't hide from them. Second, I got scared several times while watching the movie, I admit I get scared easily with this kind of movies, but I was totally terrified wishing the movie to end soon, not because it was awful but because I was really scared. Third, I really appreciate the fact this movie haven't involved the typical group of friends that go camping and are suddenly attacked by aliens, they usually try to play superheroes roles when they are not. Finally 4.8 stars is a little unfair for a movie that really scared me a lot, so if you like aliens you're gonna love this one and try to avoid watching it before going to sleep, just in case.
