V/H/S/2
Inside a darkened house looms a column of TVs littered with VHS tapes, a pagan shrine to forgotten analog gods. The screens crackle and pop endlessly with monochrome vistas of static white noise permeating the brain and fogging concentration. But you must fight the urge to relax: this is no mere movie night. Those obsolete spools contain more than just magnetic tape. They are imprinted with the very soul of evil.

Excellent, Without a doubt!!
A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
V/H/S/2 brings to the audience a new way of found footage short-films. It gives us a lot of different elements and techniques that were used for each one. However the entirety of the film is boring, lame and even with some scares it cannot save this movie.
The first installment was scarier, and more realistic. This film is simply fun to watch, and there are some disgusting moments, but it's not enough scary. I had fun watching it, the camera-work and the special effects are great, but I want more from a horror movie. I'll give a benignant 7/10, even if it's not that good.
Having suffered, yes suffered, through the first "V/H/S" movie and found it abysmal, I don't really know why I sat down to watch "V/H/S/2". Perhaps it was in the hopes that it would be an improvement, or because it sort of looked like a zombie movie on the DVD cover. The primary storyline, "Tape 49", that ran between the segments wasn't all that interesting, much similar to the first movie. As in the first movie, the camera-work in part two was equally horrible and all over the place. A fact that just adds to the nuisance of the movie more than it gives it authenticity. The first segment with the artificial eye, "Phase I Clinical Trials", wasn't particularly interesting or appealing. And it just seemed too rushed in order to be enjoyable. The second segment, "A Ride in the Park", with the biker was unquestionably one of the more appealing and interesting as it had zombies. Yes zombies! So having bought this DVD in a secondhand DVD store wasn't a complete waste. But why would a zombie bite his own arm, much less a wallet? That just didn't make sense. The make-up in this segment was actually quite good. If they hadn't added the lame attempts of humor or whatever it was with the hand on the grill, the phone call and suicide, then this segment would have been spot on.The third segment, "Safe Haven", with the Filipinos is the most interesting story, but also the most disturbing story. It is nicely executed and offers something visually and spiritually disturbing - qualities that were lacking in every other segment throughout the movie. I will go as far as saying that this segment more than makes up for the rest of the snoozefest that is "V/H/S/2". And this segment also has zombies, which is always a step in the right direction. The fourth segment, "Slumber Party Alien Abduction", with the prankster kids starts out quite interesting an it quickly builds up suspense. It does have some interesting moments, but it seemed a little bit misplaced in this anthology. There is a good sense of fear and dread as the aliens show up and start hunting the kids. The effects were simple but right to the point, and they really added to the atmosphere of that particular segment. But it was misplaced given the Sci-Fi theme, but not a boring segment. In conclusion, a better movie than its predecessor, but by all means not a masterpiece in the horror anthology genre.
I loved the first one, and I like the subversive, no-holds-barred tone of the franchise. But I can only give this a 4 out of 10.The first segment had a creative premise; the point-of-view device for the second segment was fantastic. (Why hasn't a zombie filmmaker thought of that before?) But there is just too much bad acting, bad dialogue and annoying shaky-cam, along with some painfully low-budget special effects.I'd recommend viewing only the second segment and skipping the rest. (And even that one isn't exactly high art.)
