The Worst Film Ever
Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
In truth, any opportunity to see the film on the big screen is welcome.
If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
Tom (Ashton Kutcher) and Sarah (Brittany Murphy) are newlyweds. The movie starts off with them coming home fighting at the airport. It's an odd way to start but it could have worked great if it goes much more into the courting. Instead, the relationship seems to be one problem/mistake/goof after another. They married so quickly that we're never allowed to fall in love with the relationship. It's just one wacky situation after another. The saving grace is the likable duo of Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy. They start off as fairly likable characters and they seem to be likable people in real life. That buys some leeway but it doesn't turn into a fun watch. They start off lovey dovey, get married before we have any build up, and watch them disintegrate through a series of sitcom antics. I start off liking the actors. I love Brittany's big laugh. Then I grow tired of the characters.
Just Married does little to surprise its audience. It caters to all the clichés of people marrying impulsively, as well as many old regurgitated classics of Hollywood's idea about romantic comedy. Arguably, it's still entertaining, because it's based on a tried and true recipe, but don't expect anything else. However, don't be shocked, the scenario calls, many times, on the "lie" trick to push the story from one drama to an other.Ashton Kutcher wears his over the top comedy style of That's 70s Show, but Brittany Murphy seems to want to stay away from her hysterical persona that are part of many of her romantic films. It makes the piece watchable. You want brain dead entertainment, you've never seen it, and you have a free night, this might be for you.
This romantic comedy has marvelous chemistry between Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy. This supposedly ideal couple wed before they really get to know each other. A disastrous honeymoon follows and the two return from Europe as embittered people ready to divorce. The film is a good one as it highlights the lack of maturity that couples face when they marry. Of course, in the film, this is sensationalized by the comic going on during that awful honeymoon. It also shows that there will be problems when one of the newlyweds comes from wealthy parents with a father who is suspicious of the Kutcher character as he lacks finesse and of course may not be good enough for his precious daughter. The flaw in the film may be the exaggerated outrage of a honeymoon. Of course, it's comedy so you have to expect nearly anything.Of course in the end, love conquers all.
'Just Married' is pretty much just another goofy Ashton Kutcher film. The premise is quite old and there's nothing new about a couple facing disaster on their honeymoon. 'Just Married' does add its own touch but none of it worked for me. It is just too loud and clichéd and the attempt at humour miserably fails. It tries too hard to be funny. The dialogues are terrible. Ashton Kutcher is the same goofy guy he played in x films and Brittany Murphy is plug-your-ears irritating. The supporting cast is just as bad. A lot of it takes place in Venice but what use is that in a bad movie? I guess only Kutcher and Murphy fans might like it. I didn't.
