best movie i've ever seen.
n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity
I just watched the 2 films back to back, and the conclusion is that the first one is definitely better.Grave Encounters 1 had a coherent story and stuck to one writers script. I didn't get that feeling with GE 2. There were so many ideas being floated here that the whole thing ended up as a mess. The old adage about too many cooks spoils the broth is very true. Or the writers were smoking a lot of weed while they threw in every sci fi and horror trope they could find. The first 20 minutes of the film should have been halved. We didn't need that much backstory. Also the characters and their actions were directly copied from the first film. Too many sequences felt repetitive. Throwing in Satanism, poltergeists, time warps and space wormholes was a bad idea. You can't expect an audience to suspend their disbelief for long with this many elements jostling for screen time.Watch the first Grave Encounters and give this one a miss.
This movie brought an interesting idea to the table - that the original was completely true and that those actors are now missing and/or dead. But the way it executes this idea is just terrible. 20+ minutes of a boring group of teens making the discovery that GE was NOT fabricated, and making the obvious decision to follow in its footsteps and sacrifice their lives for a sequel. It's not like they capture anything on tape that wasn't already done in GE - in fact the number of different scare methods are actually less. But the atmosphere is still there and watching it before bed has robbed me once again of sleep. What can I say I have a weakness for the asylum setting. The characters are kind of obnoxious compared to the previous movie, and the camera is definitely more shaky than I remembered, making this a more annoying experience than it had to be. Not to mention the ending is a major disappointment. I am not one for the 'everybody dies' endings, but the escape and the manner it was achieved kind of ruined the experience. If you loved GE you could watch this, or you could just re-watch GE for a better time.
This movie has a brilliant ending although movie was quite boring in the start and the acting performances of the actors was awful especially the girls were awful and I thought it will not be able to compete with the first one but it finishes actually better than first one it compensates at the ending. I loved the final interview of Alex with the producer " Whatever you do don't go looking for the building." This movie is very underrated by the critics. It is enjoyable, what more do you want from a movie? Why people always look at the dark aspects of the movie and not its brighter side. This movie can give you tremors and shivers at some points and is overall good horror movie. It give me a memory of 1408 movie when the crew gets back to the asylum through elevator. I recommend this movie, it will not disappoint you.
Grave Encounters 2 in a nutshell:45 mins of stupid students, played by very bad actors, partying and talking about whether GE1 is fake or not. Their conclusion: It's real.Logical consequence of that conclusion: Let's enter that asylum where people get killed by supernatural forces at night and prove GE1 is real! Then next part of the movie is basically the same as GE1, only with bad actors and "jump scares" that don't work at all. And I'm a person that's very likely to jump at every jump scare.I thought it was cool that Lance Preston appeared, but all that "only one person can get out and has to get all of the tapes to get out through that magical door" crap seemed very forced and didn't make much sense.I'm giving it 3 points because I thought the SFX were good (way better than in the first film) and the location is actually creepy.
