good back-story, and good acting
brilliant actors, brilliant editing
Go in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Disappointing. After the events gradually falling into place over the first three instalments, I was hoping that we'd finally see where the whole thing was going. (This was foolish of me as I've already seen the whole series but had forgotten in which films many moments take place. So the bits that I was expecting to see here I'm going to have to wait for #5 to revisit. )I just don't see the point of this film at all. It doesn't add anything or reveal any more background on Katie or her ongoing battle with demonic possession syndrome. In addition to not answering any long term questions, this offering doesn't even ask any new ones of its own. Pointless.Very Disappointing.
A-Z Horror Movie of the Day..."Paranormal Activity 4" (R - 2012 - US)Sub-Genre: POV/ParanormalMy Score: 5.9Cast=4 Acting=5 Plot=4 Ending=8 Story=6 Scare=4 Jump=7 F/X=7 POV=8 Creep=6It has been five years since the disappearance of Katie and Hunter, and a suburban family witness strange events in their neighborhood when a woman and a mysterious child move in. "Who doesn't like me?" "You'll find out." This is probably my least favorite in the franchise. The introduction of the Kinect software was cool, but that seemed to be the main focus of the film. The acting lacked and you could drive a truck through the holes in the story, but I liked the POV work and the ending was solid as usual. I felt this started to really lose focus here...only worth it if you are a POV fanatic.
After finding the third Paranormal Activity (PA) movie to be far better than expected,I was pleased to discover that the directors of the third PA had also directed the 4th title in the series, which led to me getting ready to witness the paranormal activity again. The plot:2011:After his mum becomes ill Ben is taken care of by some nearby neighbour. Shortly after Ben moves into the house, objects start to move on their own,and an eerie atmosphere engulfs the house.Wanting to find out what is going on,Alex decides that she will set up cameras all over the house to film what is going on.When the cameras start rolling,Ben decides it is time to unveil his "invisible" friend. View on the film:For their final experience of the paranormal, directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman display a sharp eye for haunted house happening, with Joost & Schulman covering the house in a great mix of murky darkness and neon green, which shatter when the paranormal cross the screen.Showing interest in the ghostly shivers of the film,Joost and Schulman appear less keen on the new direction the series is being taken,as open "tributes" to other Horror titles distract from the attempted change of direction the movie is being taken into.Since the last 2 movies had wrapped up the entire origins, the screenplay by Christopher Landon & Chad Feehan attempts to drag the haunted house into an "evil child" direction.Whilst this route does lead to some good creepy scenes with strange kids,it also undermines everything that had been built up in the first 3 films, thanks to the writers leaving the tense horror for a chance to pull the ghost/demon mythology into limbo.Being the first to suspect that something is up, Kathryn Newton gives a terrific performance as Alex, who Newton threads a quick-witted sense of ingenuity with a spine-tingling fear of the unknown,as Alex meets the paranormal.
You have to be scared of your own shadow to be scared of your own shadow to be scared off this movie. Most of it is just bad actors screaming in the dark. Good special effects but by the time you see something there is less then a minute left. The story line is awful. The ending is awful. In the 80's and 90's They made horror movies really scary. Now they just make horror movie to scary people who are scared of there own shadow. There a lot of horror movies from the 79's that are scary. The early exorcist movies are very scary. The late exorcist movies are scarier. Those are best of the new horror movies. But to many horror movie made now a days that are just made scary people you are scared of there own shadow this movie not scary it is very lame.
