Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
A group of three documentarians, Tyler (played by Tad Hilgenbrink), his friend Lalo (played by Alex Wyndham) and his girlfriend Serina (played by Janet Montgomery) go on a journey to look for a lost snuff film with said title. They soon meet a stripper named Alexa (played by Sophie Monk) who, as it turns out, is the daughter of "said film" maker, Wilson Wyler Concannon. All four of them continue the journey as Tyler begins having the feeling that they are being watched. With a premise like that, let me just say that I was not expecting very much from this film. It could very well have been one of those movies that are as bad as people usually make them out to be. But that really isn't the case with this. As soon as I had watched the opening, I thought that this would be nothing but an unintelligent gore-fest. Was I right, not really. As the film goes on, it's actually quite tense. The characters are actually well fleshed out. Tyler is the determining leader of the group, as he is the one who is obsessed with finding said film, so much that he neglects everyone he knows. His friend Lalo may seem like the typical stoner, but he's really just the typical yes-man to everything, not that that's a bad thing. Despite being the most oblivious, he still manages to make a decent impression. As for the Serina, I had a blast watching her on screen. She may seem as the ambiguous girlfriend, but, once again, as the film goes on, she actually makes a name for herself.Last, but not least, we have Alexa, the "leading" character. The fact that actress Sophie Monk has top-billing, surely, she would not be used as eye-candy. But was she not entirely. As I said, she is a stripper the first-time Tyler meets her. And at times, we do see her bare jugs. But besides that, she does have an actual purpose. Like I said before, she is the daughter of a snuff filmmaker. With all of that said, are there any flaws, definitely. But the only one that I had with it was the twist. While I'll admit that I didn't see it coming, it did feel like a clique to me. But other than that, I'm sure that this movie will give you the same unnerving feeling it gave me.
I was really hoping for more based on the ratings that I saw. The cinematography is decent, as is the acting. However, the movie was relatively slow to pick up. There was nothing spectacular about any of the slasher scenes. The main females are quite attractive and there is some decent nudity involved. However, the plot is fairly weak. I found the plot to be way too unrealistic (even for a slasher flick which is saying a lot.) This movie really could have been a lot more, and it certainly had a decent beginning If you want to see a decent slasher flick that is relatively recent, I would recommend "I spit on your grave," "all the boys love mandy lane" or "cabin in the woods."
This movie is about a film student who is trying to track down a lost horror film, supposedly its an iconic horror film. The director of the film is lost too and now his only hope to find the film is the director's daughter.Three words to describe this movie : Bloody torture porn. And just like most of the films in this genre, its no exception. Its not that terrifying more gory.As i recall only 2 scenes of the movie actually made me a tiny bit scared. This movie reminded me a lot of the Friday the 13th movies. The reasons include the location, baby face's make up, hair ,nudity etc. I really liked the idea/concept though. It was one of the main things that made me to put it in my watch list months ago.I thought it had great potential to become an memorable slasher flick . But for quiet a few reasons it didn't go that path.I have to say i have seen worse acting in this kind of movies but it definitely could have been a lot better. The camera work was shaky at times.Just by looking at the screen once anyone can get that its a straight to video film. Some of the twists in the movie is good.I like that the film students make fun of the clichéd horror movie plots and you can decide one character's death by yourself(always find it interesting). If you watch it make sure you stay for the end credits because there is a twist scene and a sequel hint which i don't think they are gonna do anytime soon considering its performance. Over all if u like slasher movies the i think its worth watching once.6/10
Tyler is obsessed by the horror movie "The Hills Run Red", considered by those that had seen it the scariest movie ever made, with the deranged serial-killer Babyface in the lead role. However, the director and the movie vanished many years ago and there is no available print. His research is affecting his relationship with his girlfriend Serina that is needy and feels neglected. When Tyler discovers that te directors daughter Alexa works in a night-club, he decides to meet her and asks about the missing movie. The woman tells that the movie might be in her father's house in the middle of the woods, and Tyler decides to travel to the spot with Alexa, Serina and their friend Lalo.Along their journey, Tyler films and interviews some locals.During the night, they are attacked by the rednecks, but they are saved by Babyface.......It's a great movie for film geeks and horror buffs all around, because not only is it about the holy grail of cinema, the banned film with only one existing print, it's also a very good horror movie, and a sly poke at the gore-nography sub genre culture. The film starts off very well, we see the very genuine fake trailer for the titular film, and at once, this makes the audience intrigued as much as the chatachters, which is very rare these days for a horror film, and has not been evident in horror since the first scream movie.babyface is so so, but the film isn't about him thankfully, it's about the Herzog inspired director played brilliantly by Sadler. The ending lets it down ever so slightly, but it's a fresh welcome horror movie that is original.
