As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

this film is junk i love comedy films with dead pan humor & tongue & cheek, satire etc but this film tried way hard to throw comedy in viewers face it just never worked, the cast was horrible & had no chemistry i remember Zooye Deschanel & Famke Jansen these 2 women are only best part about this trashy flick that's it & those stupid perverted kids were so annoying.who wrote the dialogues specially the basement scene it was so lame & cringe full, the whole film drags on boring & desperate sad moments trying hard to gain audiences sympathy & keep on failing, the director inserts some slapstick moments but it never makes you laugh.death at a funeral 2007 & its American remake in 2010 are better then this any-day .same concept the father dies & family fights at the funeral but its done better in death at a funeral.this film is called Eulogy well the makers should give one to the audience for releasing this garbage because i expect one i actually bought the disc & wasted my time & money on this ,beware people do not fall for the cool poster & all those paid positive reviews this film sucks,i saw this few years back & boy it was horrible as a Asian i enjoy western comedies a lot but this one was not my cup of tea.sorry my rating is 3/10.skipp early 2000s had great films in comedy but for 2004 this was the worst.

No one will ever convince me that Rip Torn isn't one of the funniest folks around. Facial expressions, eye brows, and loud voice make him the big grin for you on any production he is in. This one included. With Grandma on everyone's mind and siblings who are carrying years of hurt feelings and grudges this gets some dark clouds at times. The reason for this is the fact that what we Americans hide from others is just normal American family dynamics. A bit embarrassing and a bit too well understood. I actually squirmed in my seat a bit.Hank Azaria, Ray Romano, Zooey Deschanel, Debra Winger, the Garcia "Boys", Glenne Headly, Piper Laurie, and the entire Cast are absolutely in perfectly played roles. I will not give away the double blast ending. Suffice it to say that the audience will take a serious left jab from Grandpa on tape and then a decisive right uppercut by the "Garcia Boys" that brings down the house. Finally, Odo (you should know who he is) made me laugh as an old member of the clergy. I have been to weddings and funerals where he would be a doppelganger replacement for what actually showed up.I liked the movie. A lot of people, cast and crew gave a lot of great contributions to make this film. It is wonderful Saturday evening fare with a couple beers and a lot of Cheetos. Maybe a salami and fresh Mozzarella on some crunchy bread if your still hungry. Get comfy on the couch. One arm around your "Other" and a smile on your face. You will enjoy the evening.WFH.

This is a rather quirky comedy of a movie. The title should give some clue. I usually enjoy Zooey Deschanel, and again, she was "on"! For me, she's the glue in this zany story. As the title infers, someone is deceased and here ensures a story, building towards arriving at the eulogy of that life lived. And that is where familiarity might end. Zooey's character drives the story forward. The cast of characters, many of known success, all blend into the craziness of "Eulogy". For me, the only one that annoyingly stands out, always in front of his shadow, is Ray Romano. Probably because I find him annoying, in person or in character. He's always the same and leaves me wondering, "is he really that person". I hope not, because it is so annoying. And why does he get top billing! Aside from that, this movie is a "kick in the pants" and when in the mood for some chaotic humor, it's worth a view.

Upon the death of their father (Rip Torn), a family of oddballs comes together to remember a man they hardly knew. Trouble-making twins, a suicidal grandmother, a former porn star, unaccepted lesbians and the girl next door (Zooey Deschanel) make up part of the cast of characters... and the only thing you can expect from them is the unexpected. My friend Chelsea forced me at gunpoint to watch this film, which she swears is her favorite. That is such a lie -- her favorite is "Casper", and don't let her tell you otherwise. But this is a good film, so I'm not upset I had to see it. My biggest concern, in fact, was Ray Romano, who I normally dislike. He was a very enjoyable character in this film, being the father of the two little hellions.I think most families are dysfunctional in some sense. But unless yours is completely crazy, watching the people in this film will likely make you feel much better about those around you. My family is quite wonderful, personally, but this movie made me appreciate them even more.
