Wonderful Movie
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
Looking back at the late 90s and early 2000s, I really do realize the massive number of teen sex comedies that were around at that time. This movie's plot is fairly basic with a guy and his friends traveling to Europe to meet an online friend of his. This was 2004 and it really is hard to imagine anybody doing anything that big over the Internet before YouTube and Twitter were invented. I have to admit that I was never a fan of teen movies. Maybe I'm too old for them. Well, they are all rated R.Although there isn't much bad language in this movie, there is a lot of nudity. How are they even able to show that much without an NC-17 rating? They should just remove that rating altogether for lack of use. We even start with a great joke with the girlfriend saying she has to break up because of all the lies and cheating. That is, the lies and cheating she did. The acting is okay, but for the most part, it isn't anything that interesting. **1/2
Eurotrip is a free wheeling loose comedy with shades of American Pie and Road Trip to keep horny teenagers happy.Scott (Scott Mechlowitz) is dumped by his girlfriend on his graduation day who has been cheating on him with a singer in rock band (cameo by Matt Damon). Scott has been in online contact with a German girl named Mieke but he believes is a guy called Mike and dumps her. After he sees her photo he decides to pay her a visit in Berlin. He takes his friend Cooper (Jacob Pitts) and is later joined by twins Jamie (Travis Wester) and Jenny (Michelle Trachtenberg). Of course they never get to Berlin first, in order to save costs and mistakenly thinking Europe is small they start their trip in London, going to Paris, Amsterdam and Bratislava before ending up in Berlin. As they travel to Europe they meet football hooligans, end up in a brothel, go to a nude beach, end up taking dodgy brownies in an Amsterdam café and meet some strange people especially a weirdo on a train. It is crude humour with plenty of strong language with male and female nudity. It also has charm and fun by the cartload with few star cameos such as Lucy Lawless, Joanna Lumley and Matt Damon popping up.
In general, the film normal to see it once and lift your mood. Although, of course, there are inconsistencies in the script. I arranged for the acting in general. Eastern Europe shows too poor and boring. That's not it. Because of the film, I think, many teenagers could form an impression of her. Probably teenagers like such films. There are funny scenes. The film does not strain and allows you to relax. But...Some scenes were unpleasant and even blasphemous. For example, the scene in the temple ... It can not be shown even for fun. It warps the soul. Why do so many platitudes, not to do teenagers get worse. So I would like less vulgarity.
Unlike the typical movie goer, reviewers are acutely aware that films WHICH MAY SEEM UNREMARKABLE at the time of release can improve, like wine, with age. This film is possibly the best teen comedy of the era. That the cast is likable and works well together is a given. What makes Eurotrip stand out are "set pieces" which stick in your mind decades later. In my case, the ringing of the bell in the Vatican followed by the "white smoke" routine is unforgettable. But there are other gems here too.Highly recommended.
