I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Enjoyable enough, funny in a very family friendly way but worth checking out. Morgan Freeman as God is always a fantastic thing and there are a few genuine (although slapsticky) laughs from Steve Carell. He is 'Evan', a newly elected congressman who just after moving his family into a fancy new house in northern Virginia, is summoned by God to build an arc. The storyline is predictable, especially with the bad guy (John Goodman) and the damn foreshadowed early on. Johnah Hill was a bit of a surprise here, the continual hair/beard growing as Evan turns into Noah is funny, all the animals following him around and helping him build the arc are neat/ fun (again for family audiences) as is I suppose the message being promoted of random acts of kindness.Make sure to watch the closing credits, the cast and crew dancing is hilarious.
My absolute favorite film. Wanda Sykes as Rita delivers an Oscar worthy performance and the child actors are brilliant. The humour was fantastic and had me rolling in laughter. The story is heartwarming and Joel Coen (No Country For Old Men) writes another Oscar worthy screenplay.Recommend to Christians, movie lovers, and family's in need of a great laugh and a good time.
I've never left a review on IMDb. However, i have just watched Evan Almighty, and I think it's necessary to warn people. This film is terrible. It doesn't work on any level and actually makes no sense. It completely gives up on being a comedy for the end and finishes with a miming dance number. Funny thing is they probably made their money back through promotion... I mean Steve Carrell won a prestigious Teen Choice award for this... this is a great example of how lazy Hollywood is, but who can blame them? Let's make a sequel to an OK film, lose the only funny star, write it in a fortnight and we can all make some cash monies, regardless of the fact that we're spitting in the face of the art of film... It's not bad enough that it becomes good again; it's just bad. I gave it 3 stars because there is a time and a place (severely hung over) and a certain level of stoned (full baked) that would deem this movie a valid way to spend your time.
First, the movie is OK, but not great in any way... butWhy are the Congressmen and Congresswomen in the cast citied as Congressperson(s). This is totally beyond me. Why is IMDb succumbing to political correctness? Only John Goodman is citied as a Congressman. I'm really surprised that they citied Morgan Freeman as GOD, since citing GOD is not politically correct in this day and age. IMDb is always touting guidelines for postings, but they themselves are being politically correct. When will they truly take a stand and cite the people for what they play as characters. The biggest joke of posting a comment is "Your review does not contain enough lines - the minimumlength for reviews is 10 lines of text". I should be able to write a review or statement without this requirement.
