To me, this movie is perfection.
Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Such a frustrating disappointment
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Why is there not a single sea animal throughout this movie? Even when the guys start getting idiotically beaten up with their blood in the water? You're telling me that wouldn't/didn't attract a single shark? They're in the middle of the ocean for crying out loud! The first Open Water I can buy because it seemed pretty realistic but not this one.
Don't be fooled by the title: Open Water this is not. Open Water was superb, this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Every plot and sub-plot has holes big enough to drive trucks through. The dialogue is atrocious, the acting wooden. The cast and crew of Open Water should be offended: how did this pile of crap get to use the same name and pretend it is a sequel? There is no overlap between the two movies, other than scenes of people being adrift on the ocean. No commonality in characters, director, writers, actors.Avoid at all costs.
I can't understand why there are so many negative comments about this movie.Wanting to watch a decent shark movie, I scrolled through Netflix and Amazon until I found Open Water and decided to give it a try. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed it and immediately started its sequel, Open Water 2: Adrift. I expected this one to be hopefully entertaining at least, if not as good as the first. I was wrong!I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that this movie was actually a thought- provoking and terrifying drama. I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time. I found myself bored a lot during Open Water, but this sequel was so much more fast-paced and, to a certain extent, unpredictable.Even though I usually root against the protagonists in these types of movies (horrible, I know), but I really found myself caring about the characters in this one. Sure, some of them did stupid things (that's life though, isn't it?), but I found the character portrayals very believable. The acting was actually very good. I identified with Susan May Pratt's character almost immediately, as I have a phobia of water as well. It was so interesting to watch each character's personality traits as they interacted and clashed with one another during the events of the movie.I was so shocked at all of the bad reviews for this movie that I had to make an account on IMDb just to write my own review. No it's not perfect, but it definitely deserves a lot more credit than some people are giving it! Keep an open mind, suspend your disbelief just a tad, and you may just enjoy this one. Just be aware that you may not want to watch it before a boat outing...
Might be cause I'm European but I dunno. U got 6 ppl in the water, once incapacitated due to early trauma. That leaves 1 person & 4 shoulders to stand on (2 per foot). Even in water it is very capable for 1 person's load to be distributed among 4 other ppl without them risking being unsurfaced. Thus those 4 ppl can easily be a ground base for 5th person to stand on, prepare and jump to reach the boat's edge....Again might be cause I'm European, but if this movie is based on true events as it claims, most Americans are dumb. (I said most, don't flame me, it's just my 2 cents)Apparently I need to submit more lines for this review to be valid, I however have nothing more to add to this movie, since it's crap. So Line 1. Line2 Line3 Line4 Line5 Line6 Line7 Line8 Line9 Line10 (hope this covers it & sorry for the spam!)
