Along Came Polly
Reuben Feffer is a guy who's spent his entire life playing it safe. Polly Prince is irresistible as a free-spirit who lives for the thrill of the moment. When these two comically mismatched souls collide, Reuben's world is turned upside down, as he makes an uproarious attempt to change his life from middle-of-the-road to totally-out-there.

How sad is this?
A Major Disappointment
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
This is one of those movies I can watch over and over again. Not because of the story which is kind of lame but just for the humor. This is totally my kind of humor. Sometimes a bit of toilet humor, but to me it does it all the time. I don't get it why some people don't find that funny. Must be boring people. Ben Stiller will always make me laugh. He has one of those faces that I find extremely funny, plus his silly acting works really well also. Unlike Adam Sandler, who to me is extremely overrated and boring. The scene where Philip Seymour Hoffman has a situation where he sharted himself will remain a classic forever. Hank Azaria as the french Claude is funny as well. Honnestly I really don't get why this movie has such a low rating. It clearly deserves a lot more.
Wow, I'm shocked at the negative reviews of this movie. There are too many laugh out loud moments to not enjoy. Just because a movie is predictable, doesn't mean it can't be funny and enjoyable. I'm one of the harshest critics there are, but I think you need to take a movie like this with a grain of salt. Can you put the pieces together in the first 10 minutes? Sure, but that isn't what this movie is about.Ben Stiller is type-casted, sure, but there is a reason for that, he plays this part EXTREMELY well. This isn't a movie that was made with Academy Award aspirations. This film is about sitting back and enjoying a good laugh or two, and it delivers.
There are two priceless scenes in this movie. In one Hank Azaria (Homer Simpson) plays Claude a French nudist skin diving instructor who seduces Ben Stiller's wife on the first day of their honeymoon. Ben catches them en flagrante wearing enormous yellow skin diving flippers. In the other, Ben Stiller takes private Salsa dancing lessons from a tall, handsome, gay Cuban (Jsu Garcia). It reminded me of Jack Lemmon in Some Like It Hot.The rest of the movie feels fairly tepid compared with these comic masterpieces.Philip Seymour Hoffman played a character a cross between Danny Bonaduce and Chris Farley. It was as if he were on the wrong set. His loud style of humour did not fit into the film. The plot is similar to What's Up, Doc? with Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neil. The movie works because you care about Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston. Even though they are badly mismatched, you can see how they would complement each other, and root for them to get together.
Along Came Polly does exactly what it says on the tin. Ben Stiller does his usual Ben Stiller routine, whilst Jennifer Aniston is in the comfort zone of her normal type role. Plot In A Paragraph: An uptight neurotic newly wed (Ben Stiller) finds his world turned upside down when his wife leaves him on their honeymoon. He then runs into his old classmate Polly (Jennifer Aniston) and she helps him move on. I'll admit from the off, that I am bias. I love Jennifer Aniston. With her gorgeous girl next door looks and permanently erect nipples. I adore her, and will usually give anything she is in a chance. My main problem with the movie is Ben Stiller once again doing his usual nice guy Ben Stiller routine. It's more than a bit tiresome and boring now, as (with the exception of Dodgeball and Zoolander) he is always playing the same role.On the plus side, Bryan Brown is superb, as is Phillip Seymour Hoffman. As for Aniston, she remains one of the most talented and beautiful women in movies, and her ladylike sexiness is in rare supply. Any movie becomes promising just by having her name in it's cast.It has it's moments before it's predictable ending.
