Stomp the Yard
After the death of his younger brother, a troubled 19-year-old street dancer from Los Angeles is able to bypass juvenile hall by enrolling in the historically black, Truth University in Atlanta, Georgia. But his efforts to get an education and woo the girl he likes are sidelined when he is courted by the top two campus fraternities, both of which want and need his fierce street-style dance moves to win the highly coveted national step show competition.

Very Cool!!!
Too much of everything
A Masterpiece!
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Yes, the story is predictable. But it's a drama. Acting is good, choreography is GREAT and it deserves much more than 5 stars. It's prob at least a 7/10 seeing as some movies WAY less entertaining get 2 more stars. I don't even normally like movies that target the audience this one does, but it is well done.
I give it a 2 because there have been worse movies. But, for the most part it was really bad. That being said, if you are a young teen who is into movies like "You Got Served" (which definitely rates a 1 as one of the worst ever), you will like this movie. Granted, the film is not full of really good actors either. Sure, Chris Brown is in it, but, that may be it's only highlight. Even he fails to perform up to snuff, but, he did have a few good moments. There were a few steps that were good, but, there wasn't anything really unique. In fact, the front step kick in Karate Kid was a lot more unique than anything I saw in here for it's time. Roller dancing films, break dancing films and now this film. That's what type of film it was.
The movie had so many of the other dance movies put together. The acting wasn't horrible and there was no chemistry between short's character and Meagan's character. Twenty minutes into the movie we all knew he was gonna get the girl and we all knew he was going to join the frat. It so predictable that my seven year old little brother could have told me what was gonna happen next.the dancing was good.(I definitely can't dance like that) if your going to make a dance movie just PLEASE give us another story line. The whole family rivalry thing should have been emphasized. I'm 18 and I love dance movies but just not this one. We need another original like center stage, dance with me, or save the last dance. These movies had their own plots not everyone else's. All in all, the only way I would see this movie again is if its a rainy day with nothing giving on lifetime or if its the only movie on HBO
This was by far one of the worst films I've ever seen. It didn't do anything to explain or detail the history of stepping on HBCU's nor did it give and accurate display of stepping. If you wanted to do another dance movie then by all means do one but don't take a tradition like stepping and try to make it commercial and sell it to the masses. You are just not displaying an accurate picture of what it's all about. If you want to see another dance movie like You Got Served then go watch this. If you want to learn about stepping and what it's all about go to your nearest HBCU and catch a step show. They have all the major fraternities on display.
