Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Ouch, this is so bad I don't know where to start. Basic idea is interesting, although unoriginal (not to use some stronger word), but it's lousy developed, completely cliché and attempts to make some background for characters are sad. Patterned horror with all flaws typical for 80's B production. Special effects this tragic are rarely seen even in much older movies. It's so stupid it's not even funny. If I was involved in making this movie in any way I would be ashamed. Still, acting and directing somehow managed to achieve suspenseful atmosphere that somewhat holds your attention. That's why I can not bury it completely.4/10
so last night I watched DEMON WIND (1990)Strengths: Story telling failure.. The story is sooo Bad, all movie logic is out the window.. If you need some more characters to kill off just have them drive up and arrive mid-movie with no explanation and the director also borrows heavily from The Evil Dead + The dialog and acting is wooden. The make up and special effects are actually really good though.. makes for a highly watchable & entertaining bad movie experienceWeaknesses: I would have liked to have seen more gore and violence.. It is a little too tame for my tastes. Full Disclosure: the movie is in color but I watched in Black and White and I loved it.. because that's the way i like it
Fun low budgeter filled with a hot young cast, creepy atmosphere, some funny one-liners and zombies. You got to admit the first moments the group of friends arrives to the abandoned farm are pretty good, the ending is not as good as the rest of the movie, but nonetheless I love watching this movie.I might be wrong, but it seems the more graphic effects were edited out, especially when the two dudes with the guns go outside to kick some zombie butt and when the girl buries her long nails into her boyfriend's skull.Sadly the women don't have much to do, but scream, run and die. One of the male actors was horrible, I was happy he died almost immediately after arriving.
When a horror movie has the massive success like "The Evil Dead", copy cats are expected."Demon Wind" went too far and copied almost everything! from Raimi's cult classic. DW is mindless fun. Watch it if you like super low budget horror flicks. There are some gory moments that won't disgust you but will make you laugh. This flick is the perfect example of how plagiarism always fails. Probably if I wouldn't watched "The Evil Dead" before "Demon Wind" I would n't be that harsh with this cheapie but I had the luck to watch Raimi's work when I was very, very young.Don't watch "Demon Wind". Don't estimulate plagiarism.1/10. Cheap and sometimes fun but there are better late 80's - early 90's cheesy horror flicks.
