This was a really cute movie. If you don't enjoy this one then you shouldn't watch the Hallmark channel. The movies are tropey and this one is no exception. The cast was the best I've seen at Hallmark and I really hope James Brolin films other movies for them. He cinematography was great and the location shoots were spectacular. This goes down as one of my favorites.
I have ploughed through countless Hallmark movies, I like the format and can tolerate the lower production values, repetition of themes and sheer cheesy unlikeliness of the uber romancing that typically goes on.The ludicrous storyline was fine by me - good ol' romantic escapism with a royal theme that Hallmark are peddling hard this year - in connection to the British Royal Wedding maybe? However I gave up after two attempts to watch, for me it IS that bad! The father character is unredeemingly curmudgeonly and I found him one-dimensional and flat. Just unlikeable. The romantic interest was good looking but a terrible actor; I think this might have been the true problem. If we'd had an Andrew Walker or Troy Donovan it might have been saved. The main character was plucky, charismatic and very watchable and a shame she was left to carry this mess. A missed opportunity by Hallmark unfortunately.
Corny humor, weak script, subpar acting, casting all over the place (I mean, pick an accent, please). Just all around bad.
Montana rancher Hank Pavlik (James Brolin) inherits a estate in a fictional European country, and reluctantly becomes the King of the country.Hank's daughter Kelly (Cindy Busby) is his daughter that stars along side of Alex (Andrew Cooper) the estates groundskeeper. This is the most disappointing HM movie of the year, it had so much potential to be funny....... but it wasn't. The script is poor which required the actors to over act, and it is obvious that it prevented them from being even good. The chemistry between the leads is very poor.
