Wonderful character development!
The Worst Film Ever
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
I was expecting another shallow Cinderella story movie, but this movie went deeper and appealed to me especially because I am a mental health counselor. This movie portrayed the unfortnate reality of abuse while maintaining the fairy tale esque story line. It provided a picture of how children may not recognize or communicate effectively that they are victims. The "prince" character showed an example of how one can show genuine interest in gettting to know someone and then step up when it becomes evident that abuse is happening. We might never know how many people around us are living in harmful situations, but we can all do our part by being aware and willing to take action. Great movie! I recommend it for sure.
My daughter saw this on Amazon Prime and wanted to watch it. She thought the film was gonna be a sweet take on the Cinderella story and instead we ended up getting this heavy handed public service announcement on child abuse. Then at the end, everything is all better and wrapped up in a cute little package.Look, I've known several people who grew up in abusive families and this film sort of felt like it was making light of the experience. I understand that it's a movie but I don't think drunk people would appreciate a movie about an alcoholic just quitting cold turkey and going "Yep, all better now." It's something that is never fully gone and some days are harder than others. My main complaint isn't even how they handled the message, it's the fact it had a message to handle. When I sit down with my daughter to watch some Cinderella movie, I expect to see just another retelling of Cinderella, not a poorly executed PSA on child abuse. Get your priorities in order Silver Peak Productions!
HORRIBLE to have the girls cat get run over in the first six minutes! HORRIBLE!! I don't care if that is how she meets the ugly boy everyone wants - WHAT THE HECK KIND OF FAMILY MOVIE DOES THAT??? Especially after the girls mother dies inn the first 3 minutes?? The acting is pretty horrible too - maybe the aunt and uncle are supposed to be horrible but I've seen better acting in high school plays.
I started watching this movie at 6:45 PM. At 6:50 I said I was giving it until 7:00 to get better or I would switch to another movie, but by then I was asleep. Woke up in time to give it until 8:00 and finished the movie only because I was too tired to work the remote. It would have gotten zero stars except it was so bad as to be entertaining for its badness alone. LOL, it is like Nicholas Sparks and Mr. Rogers collaborated on the script.
