This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

This surpasses even the Gent's classic Drury Lane show. Each and every scene is a gem. Happily the League don't just cash in on their big-hitters like Tubbs and Edward and Papa Lazarou (although naturally they get their moments of glory) but lesser-known characters who are equally loved by true fans, such as Lance, Bernice, Dr Carlton, Barry Baggs and Pop put in appearances too. The costumes and make-up are excellent when you consider the quick changes. Thankfully Chinnery's wig is a damn sight better than the Drury Lane show! The characters fit beautifully into the pantomime structure, especially Pauline, who seems to have been born to play the panto dame! There's also the League's signature moments of dark pathos, especially in Les McQueen's ghoulish departure and the return of Stump Hole Cavern's haunted tour guide Mick.An absolute classic.

i am not just saying this because i love the league of gentlemen, but i saw it live and it was fantastic. It was one of the funniest things i have ever seen. Anyone who says they are a fan, and slates the show yet didn't even go to see it live, shouldn't be taken into consideration. The show was brilliant. And i'm sure the other thousand people who say it with me would back me up when they were giving a standing ovation.I personally can't wait for another live show if it's in the pipeline. People who review the show might actually be able to see it and give it the credit it deserves.Long live the Gents.

What a shame that this once excellent comedy ensemble have lowered themselves to this cheap pantomime humour. The beauty of the Gents is the atmosphere the TV show creates but in this DVD, it's just some silly jokes on a huge stage. As if the film wasn't bad enough, they had to sell out even more and embarrass themselves again. It's a shame that some excellent gems of British comedy go this way. Why on earth did they feel the need to do this. I am a huge fan of the series but this is so disappointing. I'm really not sure if there is any way of them redeeming themselves. R.I.P The League of Gents
