Best movie of this year hands down!
One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
This movie was remarkable and took my breath away. I have watched this movie a few times over. Even that the script was word from word from the bible. The acting was BRILLIANT. Henry Ian Cusick made you believe he was Christ himself. Cusick made you believe in GOD all over again. Christopher Plummer narration of the story made it exciting to watch. He put suspense in it even though you knew what was going to happened. Jeff Danna score to the movie FOLLOW ME made you cry at the end of the movie knowing that Christ will never been seen again unless he wanted you to. This movie touched my heart, and should be played every year in churches and homes through out the world. This was the best biblical movie I have ever seen.
C.S. Lewis said of Jesus Christ: there are only three options about Him......1) He's a liar, 2) He's a lunatic, or 3) He is Who He says He is.I have never, ever seen a more powerful movie. Never.I believe that Henry Ian Cusick captured the essence of Jesus as He was when He walked the earth......confident, brave and joyous. Very manly, but identifiable; yet, different than any man you've ever encountered. The other actors, especially the disciples, were quite believable in their portrayals.Christopher Plummber's voice was a powerful thread, tying the movie together. The sets were gorgeous.....and even the outdoor desert scenes were compelling. The director did a phenomenal job. He must have had a vision for something very human, yet larger than life.....for that is what he produced.
This is a very, very faithful adaptation of the Gospel of John, including every scene from the book with the same dialog, etc. The actors do a great job, and the direction was wonderful. The music also was very good, and the whole thing was just beautiful to watch. However, the faithfulness to the Gospel, while a good thing (its faithfulness helped enable it to skip the controversy that "The Passion" generated), caused a few problems near the end. First, in the book of John, Jesus preaches to his disciples for about 3 chapters during the Last Supper. Let me tell you, that part of the movie was BORING, and seemed to stretch on for nearly half an hour. It was like listening to a sermon--it would have been interesting in church, but had no place in a movie. And the Gospel of John doesn't have as much about the crucification as the other books, so that part of the film was disappointingly anticlimactic. But, all in all, the film was wonderful to watch.
I am 41 years old and ever since I was a kid I have envisioned Jesus a certain way. The way he looked, the way he talked. When I first saw this movie I was blown away. This is my Jesus!!!! Strong, powerful and real!!!! Wow!!!! I have watched this DVD over and over again and all I can say is WOW!!!! The actors in this movie are unbelievable. St. John and St Thomas will leave you in tears. If you have read the Gospel of John you should read it again before watching this movie. This movie, The Gospel of John, is word for word on the written Gospel of John. The movie will pump you up and all you will be able to talk about is this movie. If you know unbelievers you will be able to double you efforts to convert them and bring them into your church. This movie has given me so much inspiration, it is all I can talk about. Get the DVD so you can watch it over and over again....God Bless......
