60ish Chuck Norris plays a retired cop and finder of abducted persons in this paint by numbers 1985 action flick which had the bad luck to have been made in 2005. Seriously, it was as if the creators were either blissfully or wilfully unaware that twenty years of cinema had passed under the bridge. Did somebody win an old Chuck Norris script in a storage locker auction and decide to shoot the thing? The generic looking vehicle chases and punch-ups would have been nothing special back in the days of Good Guys Wear Black, but coming in the wake of modern action opuses like The Matrix they seem downright anachronistic, like somebody starting a Nascar race in a Stutz Bearcat. Even the bad guys - an incognito Nazi war criminal and a black clad soldier of fortune seem badly dated. At least the producers had the good taste to give Chuck age-appropriate female friends (Joanna Pakula and Tracy Scoggins); watching younger actresses cozy up to sexagenarian Chuck would have been just too icky.

When I see Chuck Norris movies as bad as The Cutter, it really makes me wonder how he got all the internet fandom that he has today. Now don't get me wrong I like Norris and i'm a huge action movie fan. I decided to check this one out since it was on Netflix streaming. One of the first things that caught my attention is that this wasn't one of Chuck's classic action movies. This one was released in 2005 back when Chuck was 65 so I figured that it wouldn't be up to par with his classic films, but would make for a fun viewing. First off, it looks as if no money went into this movie. Considering this is a straight to DVD movie, i'm guessing most of the money went to Chuck. The acting is also horrible in this film. You know you've got a problem when Norris is the best actor in your movie. However, you don't go into a Chuck Norris movie looking for anything but some good acting. That's where The Cutter once again fails. The action in this movie is some of the worst i've seen in a long time. The editing is so awful that I would have to call it some of the worst editing i've ever seen in a film. It's done so poorly it takes you out of the action and just makes you look for all the mistakes that were done in the editing. I like Norris and it's a shame to see him in such an awful piece of trash. Even if you are a fan this is one to avoid!

I bought The Cutter in a bargain bin at a place her called Rogers Video for 5$. Chuck has never been known for his acting ability, but I am a fan of his action movies,so I decided to give it a chance. 85% of the time, I was bored by the lack of action, there are barely any fights, the story isn't very interesting and even Chuck himself looked bored. You have two great legit Martial Artist's in Chuck Norris and Dainel Bernhardt, why not give the fans a special fight, instead of giving us the crap they did. I was just so disappointed in it all,how on earth could they screw that one up?. The story itself is routine and unimaginative,Diamonds??..We've seen this story too many times before and done better at that. Did Chuck need a decent paycheck that badly?..this sure looked like a paycheck film,I didn't see the point of this film being made what so ever. I really should stop watching all these DTV action films, but every once in a while you find a surprising gem in a batch, however The Cutler is definitely not one of them. If you wanna see some good Chuck films, perhaps you should go back to his glory days and start there.Performances. Chuck Norris looks asleep for the most part of the film. Why did he make this film,if he didn't care about it?. He looked so bored half the time, only showing up for a couple of fight scenes. The charisma is non existent, his dialog is awful..what happened Chuck?. Joanna Pacula is OK. She's pretty but not much else. Daniel Bernhardt is a well known martial artist, But he plays it much too over the top as the villain. He was wooden and his potentially classic showdown with Chuck is never delivered, what a shame.Bottom Line. The Cutter is yet, another terrible DTV Action film. No thrills,no excitement, boring dialog and amateurish acting. Not recommended unless you want to cure your insomnia.3/10

Chuck Norris goes the Charles Bronson route and makes a cookie cutter action flick despite his geriatric state. Chuck Norris at 65(!) is still kicking away and if this is any indication of what we should expect from Chuck Norris for the next couple of years, perhaps it's not such a bad idea that he peddles total gym commercials. The boring plot involves Nazis out to steal priceless jewels for some unfathomable reason and so they kidnap an old man and so his daughter (Joanna Pacula) hires out the help of Norris who is less Invasion USA and more Missing In Action. Seriously The Cutter has to be one of the least action packed films of Norris' career, Norris doesn't do many roundhouses and relies heavily on gunplay to get him by. In fact Norris seems to be in his old 80's mode where he was ruthless in his stoic presence however there just isn't enough action. In fact the bus sequence which is meant to be a homage to Code Of Silence, just reminds us how much the mighty have fallen.A Chuck Norris fact is that the chief export of Chuck Norris is Pain and with this movie, he has exported a good amount on his target audience.* out of 4-(Bad)
