Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
The acting in this movie is really good.
One of the underrated movie of director James Wan. Kevin Bacon plays a father who goes as a vigilante after those murderers of his family. A treat for action and violence lovers. Actor Kevin Bacon played his role intensely and especially for that balding his head scene.
So, its Taken with Kevin Bacon. Except this was first, why didn't this become a hit? No cool catchphrase? Maybe. But this film is not as bad as people say. Kevin Bacon gives another respected performance, and yet the effort was not recognized as it should have been. Certainly this film has its problems, but overall, it is enjoyable. Again, Kevin Bacon is the reason. Director James Wan displays his talent in a different manner than in his typical horror realm, as this action thriller does surprise, and delight. Of course the always brilliant John Goodman is always a great site to see. However, the problem I do see that may keep it from being a great film, is the messy script. The tone is off, as it doesn't know what it wants to be. And sets as your typical shooter. But it does pack some surprises, and I think the 20% on RT is unjustified. Take what you will from it, and maybe it will surprise you. Don't always listen to RT.
People that say it is bad are stupid and the ones that think movies are to be made for reality. What is the point of seeing a movie if it is more of a reality, instead of taking us away from reality? People are just dumb when being a critic to a movie. I watch movies for the entertainment, not for whether it is based of a fact or true happening or story.Movies are for disbelief and that makes entertainment. If it was a fact, true happening or story, then it basically a documentary, and documentaries are the most boring genre to any movie. Documentaries are for education, not entertainment. That is why Found Footage sucks so bad, and those who like them suck. Yes, found footage is a documentary tried to be a drama or other genre, that should not be.Hate reading dumb reviews about how it is not real on how it happens in the movie but in real life that would not happen. What is the difference between movies and real life? Not them being the same. If I want to get my mind of problems in my life, I would not be watching people going through the same stuff.I would be watching this kind of stuff instead, dummies. So many people that probably have high IQ but act dumb as they can be without trying. Maybe they should have two theaters in one. One for us that like entertaining movies and the other for those who want boring found footage and documentary movies or based on true story, which say that are based on true stories but aren't.I will stick with entertainment and not be bored. I can watch this many times over and still enjoy it. Just people are too hard to please. Stay away from those people. They are trouble or trouble makers or arguers and debaters on everything.
I first saw this film in 2008 on a DVD. I enjoyed it. The movie was very well made. Kevin Bacon gav an excellent performance as a father seeking revenge. The movie never slows down or gets boring. John Goodman also appears in a nice cameo role. Fans of Death Wish, The Brave One, Harry Brown, The Punisher, Law abiding citizen shud definitely check this out. I was most impressed by the camera work in the chase scenes. I was rooting for the lead character from the word go and Bacon did not let me down. Death sentence was a great thrill ride from the emotional opening credits to the chilling conclusion. At times it was brutal, gory n depressing. The music by Charlie Clouser (Saw series, The collection, Resident evil extinction) was very effective at establishing the proper mood. It has some hard hitting action, fantastic foot chase, some amazing gun fights n some unique death scenes. The soundtrack is very depressing and moody and helps set the tone of the film. Its directed by James Wan (Saw, Dead silence, Insidous, Conjuring, Fast n furious 7). Nice cinematography by John R. Leonetti (Conjuring, Insidious). It's based on the book (sequel to the original Deathwish) written by Brian Garfield, the author of Death wish.
