Great Film overall
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
The director must have broken his head about how to make a 90 minute movie of a story that literally takes 5 minutes to tell in the original version. You know, he must have thought in the end, we fill up a few superfluous gruesome moments with long uninteresting scenes. In my opinion the director and complete casting and supporting crew should have been put into the freaking oven. This is the first movie I ever gave a vote of 1. Congratulations. Very ... very ... BAD. What else is bad is that I have to type 10 freaking lines to get in a review that could easily have been just the line 'very very bad'. But hey Ill keep typing if you guys keep reading. Ah, I'm done.
I'm surprised at how many people gave this film a 1/10 because they thought it was a different film. That's like saying Shawshank Redemption is a horrible film because for some reason I thought I was renting The Godfather. The first 50 minutes of the film was your typical B-grade horror film. At that point probably was a 4/10, but could go between 2 and 6 based on ending. Then for like 20-25 minutes it went stupid weird. There was some OK stuff near end.Nothing spectacular, nothing horrible and I would love to see some make a better film for $500.
I started to see this movie by mistake thinking it was the Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters one. I just don't understand when I see these movies, who pays to have them made. I would love to talk to the person who wrote this and just ask why? No one in their right mind can think this is any good. The acting is terrible and the storyline is so stupid. I kept thinking it was going to have something that made the movie watchable. I finally just got up and turned it off. If it wasn't cause I was on a free trial of Netflix I would cancel my subscription for even having this garbage on their site. This isn't even good enough to have in the background while you fall asleep.
Who would have thought they would have put out THREE Hansel & Gretel movies in the beginning of 2013? Thought this was the one with Jeremy Renner, so was shocked not to see him in the beginning. Paid to see it, so watched it anyway. Most 2nd rate movies are called "B" movies, if I was to give this a "Grade", it would earn an "F". This is like one of the bad horror movies from the 1950's. Story kind of jumps around so you're not certain what's going on all the time. This is supposed to be a "Realistic" type of situation that could really happen, but then people are stabbed with items and keep getting back up. The ending is so hokey I can't believe they did it other than to put the poor movie, and the audience, out of their misery!
