A Disappointing Continuation
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
An undertaker's birthday party is interrupted when Jacob Goodnight rises from the dead and proceeds to terrorize her and her friends. To be honest 'See No Evil' as bad as it might have been it still had some good and alright moments but 'See No Evil 2' is even more terrible than the first. I mean it has the typical in your face scares you know jump scares and things and one chick gets on top of Jacob who is basically dead and even kisses his lips and she starts having sex with her boyfriend next to a corpse. Damn whoever wrote the script was definitely high plus both the acting and the dialogue was abysmal. Go and watch some of those The Marine movies their way better than this. (0/10)
SEE NO EVIL 2 is a belated follow-up to the original WWE-produced movie in which Glenn Jacobs, a hulking, bald-headed wrestler, went around murdering teenagers and stealing their eyeballs. This low budget sequel is set in a morgue, in which Jacobs' corpse springs back to life to kill another group of partying teens. The film has some supernatural touches but is generally another derivative slasher. The main problem I had with this film was the direction; all of the action takes place in the dark, meaning you'll have to squint in order to figure out what's going on. The gory murder sequences are entirely predictable and there's not really any genuine menace build up along the way. The only fun comes from spotting a pair of modern-day scream queens in the cast. Danielle Harris is a feisty heroine while the underrated Katharine Isabelle plays a sexy victim whose seductive antics would make any red-blooded male rise from the dead.
Just ignore the first one. This movie is just surprisingly good. Soska sisters kick ass. They were able to make a great sequel to not so great movie. I liked the music a lot and the characters were well-made and realistic adults not just dumb teenagers. The story is well written and not as predictable as you could imagine. When I saw the first I wished that they would never make a sequel but not anymore. We all know that Jacob Goodnight will never be as popular as Jason of Michael but in this movie Kane really nailed it. I hated the religious stuff in the first one and that's why I didn't think Jacob could be scary. And yet he was. The movie is scary and in a weird way beautiful. I have watched hundreds of horror movies but not a single one like this movie.
Okay, just by looking at it we can tell that it is no masterpiece. But nonetheless, it was entertaining, and i found myself enjoying it, unlike the first which was a complete and utter mess. Katharine Isabelle gave a terrific performance and she was pretty much the sole reason why i gave this movie a chance. I found that i was a little short though, something that i rarely find. Most movies in this category are way too long for some reason and packed with garbage and fake scares. This however, had a perfect combination of gore, plot and scares. I was a fan of American Mary, also starring Katharine Isabelle and also made by the Soska twins. Going into this movie, i wasn't so sure that i was going to like it, basing my thoughts off the first, but it completely shocked me by how good it was and the whole series up in my opinion. Im actually shocked at how low of a rating it got. The soska twins have gained a new fan because of this movie.
