Sinister
True-crime writer Ellison Oswald is in a slump; he hasn't had a best seller in more than 10 years and is becoming increasingly desperate for a hit. So, when he discovers the existence of a snuff film showing the deaths of a family, he vows to solve the mystery. He moves his own family into the victims' home and gets to work. However, when old film footage and other clues hint at the presence of a supernatural force, Ellison learns that living in the house may be fatal.

Great Film overall
Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Admirable film.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
I love Japanese horror movies, so these movies are way tooo funny for people like me..can they at least present the ghosts as ghosts or nothing at all instead of those funny clown faces, lol, they could have made it better , the story was good but couldn't present it
Sinister has a new different approach to a Horror film, in that its a little more reality based, but with supernatural add-ins.Visually it's pretty dark and a little hard to make out at times, but it works and is worthy of a viewing!
I don't want to give any spoilers.. which is going to be difficult on this one. Home sick and have watched three movies so far...this was the third. It is SCARY AS HELL but one of the DUMBEST plots I have ever seen in a film. It could have been so much more...but it got lost trying to explain EVERY LITTLE THING. The atmosphere is seriously unbelievably thick with tension though. Huge fan of Derrickson and this is by far better than Deliver us From Evil.
Its rare for a horror movie to impress me, and this one simply shines with the perfect blend of horror, mystery, thriller and really invests one into the life of a true crime writer's life. Amazing performance by Ethan Hawk he always impresses and much credit goes to Scott Derrickson for the writing, definitely top notch for a horror movie. It consists of genuine scares throughout and executed perfectly. And what works about all this is that its all kept as grounded as possible. The end however wasn't that grounded which makes one think that it could have been better but its acceptable considering the plot was eventually gonna go that path. Still a lot better than most horror flicks,Verdict: Definitely worth checking out.
