Wow! Such a good movie.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Paris is a city of some 7 million people, and they all evacuated in 10 minutes, leaving the main kids the city to themselves for most of the movie. This movie begs for IMDb to re-insert its message boards, just so we can make fun of movies like this. The dwarf dude from Lord of the Rings provided the only drama when he made the plane wait an extra 10 minute before taking off. How many times could the main kid run into the girl he was checking out earlier in the film?
This movie begins with a volcanic eruption in Iceland which triggers a series of other eruptions and earthquakes all across Europe. The resulting ash emitted from these volcanoes then proceeds to block out the sun which causes a new ice age to develop. While this is occurring a newly-married man named "Steve Foster" (Jeff Fahey) and his wife "Lacey" (Judit Fekete) are flying to London when they realize that they need to get to Paris to rescue Steve's son "Ryan Foster" (Marc McKevitt Ewins) and daughter "Taryn Foster" (Sara Malakul Lane). The story then proceeds to focus on the trouble that both groups have to overcome in order to get to their rendezvous point. Now as far as the overall movie is concerned I must say that trying to capture the magnitude of such an impending disaster was no easy matter. In this specific case the attempt to do so failed quite badly. The special effects were bad and the scenarios weren't very realistic either. In short, those who like disaster films might get some satisfaction out of this one but it certainly isn't one I would recommend to anyone. Accordingly, I rate it as below average.
R.D. Braunstein directs this exciting and near epic motion picture depicting European volcanic eruptions creating dust clouds sending the continent into another ice age. A visionary screenplay by Richard Schenkman and H. Perry Horton tells the moving and suspenseful story of an American couple trying to escape the catastrophic freezing by returning to Paris before there is nothing left but a massive waste of ice. The imagery is haunting as the camera pans across vast vistas of Antarctic proportions upon which humanity must somehow survive. Jeff Fahey gives another superb performance, portraying a average man in extraordinary circumstance, forced to heroic dimensions by the compulsion to save loved ones. The distinguished actor John Rhys-Davies is amazing in his role as a military officer literally trying to save civilization and brings added gravitas to this stunning film. With superior special effects, brilliant writing, and superb direction, there is no denying the staggering power and overwhelming excitement that is 100 Degrees Below Zero.
one of the worst movies I have ever seen-supposed to be a disaster flick. the guy falls down constantly, the girl then takes her turn. she runs around in the usual skimpy top like all these chicks to draw in the male audience, but even her top can't save this disaster. I was laughing at the parts that were supposed to be serious. It's like the commercial-why don't we just get in the running car. So poorly written and acting even worse-oh oh ah ah -turned it off. don't waste your time. there are supposed to be worse movies, but They must be really bad. some reviewer thinks the father's wife is hot. He is same one who thinks movie is not that bad. Needs to get out more-just an average woman who cannot act either. good movie to sleep by.
