Just what I expected
Excellent but underrated film
It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
A WASTE OF TIME. Does Wesley Snipes really need the money that badly? There are many examples of actors doing a movie just because they need to pay off a new swimming pool or pay down a mortgage. (See Micael Caine in 1980's "the island"). Matt Andrews left his good TV roles to make the money too. This highly Forgettable movie had a bunch of apprentice actors in it with no experience. How much did they pay to rent those abandoned buildings and the sewage treatment plant in Romania? $50 a day? The entire crew list had just a few American names. Another example of making a movie outside the United States "on the cheap". I'll probably think hard before I watch another Wesley Snipers movie now that he's shown that he's in it just for the money.
Oh my gosh! this movie rules see it! watch it in slow motion , rewind and all speeds of fast forward it is that good.I just love the way it uses great actors to portray its realistic, original story.(takes envelope of cash from movie studio)Watch it! Watch it!if you like any kind of movies watch it.Best movie ever.I love the cool explosions and when Wesley Snipes fights the man with the bread knife classic...Hoping for a sequel could be called something cool like Marksman 2 or Marksman vengeance or Marksman 'X'treme i would pay double for that 'X' could wesley pull off amovie as good as this i think he has the talent deserves an Oscar and a star on the Hollywood walk of fame unless he alredy has one.
The plot was so implausible, the movie was reminiscent of bad American ethnocentric military might movies of the Eighties. The acting was atrocious. Wesley Snipes who has put out some reasonably decent movies looked like he wished he was somewhere else for most of the movie. Low budget movies can be forgiven for archaic special effects but not for replaying the exact same bad special effects repeatedly regardless of context for such insignificant details as night/day and appropriate camera angles. The action scenes were stilted, the old simplistic formula of dozens of bad guys with machines guns can't hit the side of a barn while they are standing in it while the good guys naturally have a one shot one kill habit. Red neck NRA card carrying American patriots will probably feel some kind of in-the-pants-rise for this movie, everyone else, do yourself a favour and look elsewhere for your cinematic escapism.Bad. Bad. Bad.
Wesley Snipes stars as Painter,a mercenary sent to save hostages and destroy a nuclear missile that Russian terrorists have gotten their hands on, of course while there Painter realizes there is a conspiracy that goes all the way to the US Government. The Marksman has a cool title, indeed for an action flick there is no title that sounds cooler than "The Marksman" of course my anticipation was that of an assassin movie and not one of those mercenary learns he was double crossed horse manure. That is an accurate description because The Marksman is horse manure. It's awful. One of the worst things about The Marksman is that the action doesn't come until an hour into things and by then I was falling asleep. The Marksman is one of the dullest movies i've ever seen and I for one cannot believe how far Snipes has fallen.1/2* out of 4-(Awful)
