Great movie. Everything about this movie is entertaining. Elvis Presley is at his best, and Ann-Margret is outstanding. Her performance is worthy of official accolades. She sings, dances, acts, and keeps up with Presley. The two of them together make a terrifically entertaining team. The setting, the story, and the singing all combine to make this one of Presley's best movies and one of Hollywood's better musicals. The songs are excellent, and the title song, one of Presley's big hits (which he sings twice in the movie). This movie is further proof of Elvis Presley's all-around talent as an entertainer. The same can be said for Ann-Margret whose versatility is matched only by her beauty. Hot movie! Great entertainment.

To enjoy Elvis films the trick is to watch the better ones and forget about the inferior ones where the film studios almost treated his films like production line fodder.Viva Las Vegas is fun and undemanding entertainment showing a Vegas outside of downtown that no longer exists.Elvis plays talented race car driver Lucky Jackson trying to earn enough money in Vegas to pay for a new engine so he can take part in a race whilst sparring with aristocratic Count Mancini an ace racer himself. Both also try to court Rusty Martin (Ann Margret) also working at at the same hotel as Lucky. Its a smart, light story with plenty of joshing between Mancini, Lucky and Rusty and the songs are more consistent thanks to the ageless title song. It helps that the rivalry with Mancini is friendly rather than malicious and there is good racing sequence at the end of the film. The selling point is the chemistry between Elvis and Ann Margret, both lift each other and Ann in one of her earlier roles shows that she was a rising star. Its a well filmed Elvis musical, a good introduction for anyone who wants to watch a good Elvis movie.

Lets get this straight, I am an Elvis fan, so of course you can add a few points for that, but otherwise this is a great movie all by itself. If you like Las Vegas and want to see what it looked like back in the mid 60's this movie is good for that. If you like pretty girls, well Ann Margaret in her prime is as good as its going to get in that department. If you like Elvis, well this is his best movie with an exception of his 2 concert movies (which don't count) Truly, after this movie you actually may be an Elvis fan, it has several good songs in it and most of all his famous Viva Las Vegas song.. I think he should have done a follow up movie with Ann Margaret to this one and maybe threw Bill Bixby in it and that would have been good as well. So either way, check this flick out if you have ever been the slightest bit interested in the King. Another good one after you watch this may be Jailhouse Rock or Charro.

This is a typical formulated Elvis musical, there is nothing special about it that makes it stand out from the rest of the trash. Ridiculous plot & flimsy story & one stupid situation after another. And enough songs to fill an album & some of the songs are better than the movie itself & that's not a good sign. The best part of the movie is the racing scene at the end with several car crashes but that's expected in a car race. But it comes too late, in the meantime there's too many distracting & intrusively silly & annoying scenes that weighs the film down & gets in the way of the plot & story (if there ever was one).Aside from a few decent movies Elvis made when he was given solid material to work with like Jailhouse Rock, King Creole, Flaming Star, Wild In The Country & Charro most of his movies were garbage. They are tediously boring & are embarrassing & hard to sit through & a waste of time & a disgrace to Elvis' career. Only Elvis fans will enjoy this poop simply because Elvis is in it.
