This is How Movies Should Be Made
Pretty Good
There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Although the film was shot in Poland, which should make me happy ( i live here) but it did not.The only shot of Warsaw is a meaningful , ugly shot of one of the bridges.Max Ryan is an interesting actor but forcing him to appear with the lit cigarette in all scenes , even when he kills is ridiculous. Also , the film was shot in 2002 and i do believe the action takes place the same year. So why all the phones in Poland have an ancient dial and those in Berlin the keys ? I had key phone at late 70' in Poland , the hotels probably a little later.I write this in the middle of watching (commercial break), but i don't expect a positive change... Anyway, i haven't seen Steven in a good film for a long time ... Is it all about the money?
This time Mr. Seagal took some unemployed British actors to Poland. Possibly also to Germany and France. In Poland he found cheap military apparel. Of course there are lots of ruins in Eastern Germany as well. Eastern European stunt men are really difficult to describe. It is not the first time, Mr. Seagal makes a budget film this way. His own performance was rather boring. He hardly ever fought hand to hand this time. For some reason some of the hired guns in the film were said to have been speaking Danish. I have no idea where he got that idea. I didn't hear them speak Danish. I can hardly hear what Mr. Seagal says in this film. This will be an hour of my life, which I will never get back, nor remember. That's why I write this review. Still another thirty minutes left of this discount product.
Two things are changed from then.First of all i am not a kid anymore, and second most of new Seagal movies are just terrible. This is on my opinion the worst movie ever made with Derailed starred by Jean Claude Van Damme. There is no plot in this movie, the plot is just an excuse to shoot some terrible action scenes which are painful to watch.I love action movies, but this is not an action movie....This isn't a movie...this is a group of irritating scenes which are connected in annoying way to kill the viewers love for the action movies.I am sorry but i don't have any respect for anyone who liked this movie. He has a serious intelligence problem then.I hope that Seagal will make some new good movies in the future.Good luck for him !
Even though Seagal movies have become less and less entertaining as he gets older, this one is an exception for it had us on the edge of our seats....but for the wrong reason. The plot is Seagal plays Jonathan Cold, a rogue agent who's sent to retrieve a "package" and deliver it to its rightful client. Sounds simple doesn't it....wrong. This movie becomes convoluted with plot twists, heel turns, face turns and so much sub-plot that you really have no one to cheer for.Donsoir, Mimms, Van Eagan, Seagal himself...you really can't tell who's the real bad guy and who's not. In fact Seagal spends half the movie trying to kill Donsoir and the other half working with him....and not in the same order either. One scene he tries to kill him...later on in the movie they work together to storm Van Eagan's mansion.I know Seagal's like 80 lbs heavier than in his heydey but that doesn't mean he has to subject us to a plot like this. Its just way too confusing. I can figure out the plot, I'm sure a few others can too...but for the general public, they'll be left scratching their heads. Plus, with characters trying to team up or kill Seagal at an alarming rate, you have no one to get behind and cheer for.The highlight of the movie is Donsoir with a cigarette in his mouth or hand basically the whole film, like Lumbergh's coffee mug in Office Space.4 out of 10
