How sad is this?
A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Lady in White is and remains one of my favorite horror-suspense movies. I crave movies that keep me engaged. I want to connect to the characters and feel the emotions of the story.I look for a good story line and hope for an exciting ending. If I get some good special effects and strong camera work a film goes to the top of my list.Lady in White has all of the items on my check list. The added bonus is that I can watch this movie over and over again. It causes goosebumps every time. I finally figured out why. The music is chilling. And get this - Frank LaLoggia created it all. He wrote it, directed it and composed the soundtrack. Just amazing. A 10 for sure.
This is truly a classic ghost movie. Everything seems very normal and peaceful at the beginning, but slowly, things start to get a little more disturbing as the plot thickens with the discovery of a little girl ghost, by Frankie, and Frankie being discovered as a witness by a serial killer and the little girl ghost talking Frankie into helping her find her mother (who is ALSO a ghost) and through all of this, Frankie is juggling his emotions between helping the girl ghost and trying to evade the serial killer, until it pays off to an edge-of-your-seat ending. In addition, I thought the subplot of the serial killer was a stroke of genius. The story takes you from plot to subplot....plot to subplot....plot to subplot. Sometimes I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride, emotionally. This film really held my attention. I recommend this movie to any and all ghost movie fans.....Additionally, it's a perfect movie to watch at Halloween.
The Lady In White is a good example of an excellent movie that many people haven't seen or even heard of. What makes this movie stand out among the sea of genre pics is the fact that it is different. Frank LaLoggia created a unique tone with this picture and rather than following genre conventions, he decided to take things in a different direction. The film is somewhat of a classic and now that it is being re- released under the Scream Factory banner, hopefully it will get the love that it deserves. A ghost story that utilizes atmosphere, a touching and at times complex story that is grounded in characters that we care about, and style in spades, makes the Lady In White a movie that you need to see this and every Halloween season.
I may be the odd dissenter here, but I don't think this is really a kids movie. IMDb rates it as R, yet other places list it as PG-13. For a movie from 1988, it suffers from extremely poor special effects. The movie itself seems to suffer from having green mile and sling blade ambitions, but gets confused and a instead, ends up a goosebumps style, Saturday afternoon special that is little more than a train wreck of styles and themes. There's a racial subplot and a subtle theme of pedophilia that run throughout the movie and sadly, the former never ends up being resolved and the latter does little more than skew this movie away from being for kids, despite its B grade special effects and the fact that most of the main characters are children. It is a good movie an it's directed quite well, however the movie sadly feels like it was caught in a tug of war between the director, writer and the people financing the film. It falls too far short to be an entertaining film for adults and yet contains too many adult themes and language for kids.
