Truly Dreadful Film
Am i the only one who thinks........Average?
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
The people of an undersea kingdom named Seatopia are very angry that repeated nuclear tests on Earth are disrupting their tranquility. So they send a cockroach like monster named Megalon topside to do some major damage. Fortunately, the people of Japan are able to rely on a faithful robot named Jet Jaguar. JJ, by the way, has the means of traveling to a distant isle to ask Godzilla for help. And the antagonists respond by summoning the bird like Gigan.Admittedly, this Kaiju series had definitely become juvenile and cheesy, not to mention overly cute. It's not for fans of the Big Green Guy who crave substance in what they watch. It's just "good" dumb fun for a family audience, complete with an extended final showdown between the two heroes and the two villains. Godzilla himself is just too funny, especially considering some of the gestures that he makes. And one of the villains clearly is thinking "you gotta be kidding me" at one point.Yes, this is a very silly movie but a pretty fun one, directed with some panache by Jun Fukuda. Its main human characters are very likable. Our human villains are an amusing bunch of one dimensional goons. The action scenes are competently done, and there are enough laughs and thrills to make this entertaining fluff. The plentiful special effects, the monster costumes, and the vibrant color and widescreen photography help to keep things visually interesting.A funny and lively diversion for people who just want to put their brains in neutral for 82 minutes.Six out of 10.
Godzilla vs. Megalon is widely considered the worst Godzilla film ever made. One can certainly see why. The film follows three individuals: one a robotics scientist, the second, the scientists friend I think, and the third, his son. The three have been working to build a robot, who they dub Jet Jaguar, for no discernible reason. Why would you call a rainbow coloured humanoid robot Jet Jaguar? Anyway.People from the sunken continent of Seatopia kidnap Jet Jaguar to use as a guide for there giant but kind of stupid sea monster, Megalon, so they can get revenge on America for testing nuclear bombs off of Alaska, which accidentally blew up part of their civilization. How are they going to get revenge? By leading Megalon to Tokyo! That makes sense. (It doesn't). Stuff happens, and Jet Jaguar grows really big because he may be sentient, and not a machine (?) and wants to help his masters. Godzilla comes down for about 20 minutes and tag teams with Jet Jaguar in a fight against Megalon and Gigan, who shows up because. This films plot is an incomprehensible mess, as you probably can tell. It makes very little sense. Godzilla is also in this movie for a very brief period, and the film centres on the three robotics scientists and Jet Jaguar. Also, Jet Jaguar has his own theme song, which is quite awesome (read hilariously silly). The production values is incredibly spotty, the acting is poor and the plot and story area a mess.Even so, this film is one of those "so bad it's good" style films. Godzilla slides on his tail, through the air, to kick one of his foes at one point. He also gives Jet Jaguar the peace sign. It was good. The beginning half of the film is pretty standard/mediocre, as we follow the scientists around as they do unimportant things. The monster battle is hilarious. I can't say much else really. This isn't a film that will offer any depth or edge. It's just a goofy mess of a movie. One of my guilty pleasures for sure, and that makes it redeemable in my eyes. If you are into Godzilla, Kaiju or camp, this is a film to watch.
The best Godzilla movie Godzilla (1998). You don't have think so. But if your mad about it grow up fart heads. This is the 13th Godzilla movie. It is also the 5th R.o.d.a.n movie. All the R.o.d.a.n movies are good and most of the Godzilla movies are good. The original R.o.d.a.n is better. The 14th Godzilla movie Godzilla vs M.e.c.h.a.g.o.d.z.i.l.l.a is also better. The 15th Godzilla movie The terror of M.e.c.h.a.g.o.d.z.i.l.l.a is also better. Godzilla final wars would be part 28 to the Japan Godzilla series. It would also be the 7th R.o.d.a.n movie. The original R.o.d.a.n is also be better. But it is still a very good movie. Very entertaining. See it. See all the R.o.d.a.n movies there awesome. The 11th Godzilla movie Godzilla vs the smog monster is better. Still a good movie.
Oh man, get ready to tone down your intelligence because we're looking at one of the lesser highlights of the movie series starring the one and only King of the Monsters. This is Godzilla vs Megalon. After the events of "Godzilla vs Gigan", an ancient civilization called Seatopia (silly, I know) is living under the ocean. Its people are upset over the continuous nuclear bomb tests done on the surface world, so they send in their god Megalon to destroy us all. Only one problem: Megalon is one of the least intelligent monsters there is. So they send a few agents to steal a scientist's silly-looking, size-changing robot Jet Jaguar to lure Megalon to cities. Soon, the scientist regains control over the robot and sends it to get Godzilla to save the day. Realizing that trouble is over the horizon, the Seatopians ask the aliens from the previous film to send in their monster Gigan into the fray. It's Godzilla and Jet jaguar against Megalon and Gigan. Who will win? This was made in a time when Godzilla movies were getting silly. Cheap effects, annoying little kids, use of stock footage, and laughable moments. Nonetheless, all of this is made up for by the awesome big fight that goes on near the end. Monsters taking turns beating the crap out of each other. I absolutely love it. There are tons of great moments, a few that defy the laws of physics. If you're willing to let reality fly out the window and just want to see a fun and cheap monster movie, then this is the one for you.
