The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human
David Hyde Pierce, playing an alien (credited as infinity-cubed in the opening credits), narrates a courtship in a late-20th century American city as an extraterrestrial nature documentary. The relationship "footage" is played straight, while the voice-over (with its most often wildly inaccurate theories) and elaborate visual metaphors add comedy.

How sad is this?
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
right actors, smart script, a lovely comedy, innocence in large slices as seeds for a special form of humor. a film about a way more than a sexual movie because it reminds the books from Iluminism about strangers and theirs habits. Jeff Abugov has the smart idea to use Carmen Electra and Mackenzie Astin for a kind of story about Eve and Adam. and the result is nice. because it is far by ordinaries recipes and for the innocence of definitions about errors, feelings, gestures and dialog. a film about steps of relationship with great precision for details. and that does it , in strange manner, a film for entire family. because it is, in fact, a wise game of nuances in a funny manner.
This is a SATIRE. It is a pseudo science fiction/romantic comedy that spoofs dating/relationship rules and procedures, that ultimately endanger our species by making procreation unlikely. The aliens who are observing the human mating couple judge that humans are remarkable in that they have not gone extinct in spite of their extremely complex and difficult mating rituals.Since humans have proved themselves to be so resilient, and have thrived as a race, against incredible odds, then they should be left alone, allowed to live and the planet should not be destroyed by the aliens.(And,...it is laugh out loud funny in places.)
In general this movie is just "ok" but there are a few absolutely hysterical moments. My favorite are the representations of how different contraceptives work that are done by men on a track dressed as sperm. The spermicide and pill are two funny ones in particular. Towards the end of the movie, the Male drives past them as they film and wonders what is going on. While it is just one moment, it made the whole movie worth while. Carmen Electra doesn't hurt either. I would like to state my opinion on this "minimum of ten lines of text to post a comment" policy. It is silly. I feel that my comment may be useful to someone. Why do I have to be long winded about it? It leads to filler like this, which helps no one. I certainly don't think my comment is any less valid simply because I can't write a paragraph on "The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human." It's a good movie, but not ten lines good.
Obviously not to be taken very seriously (it is a comedy ;) ), this movie does make many good points, and describes fairly well the difference in how the respective genders perceive relationships - in an entertaining manner, from start to finish :) While not a movie of a grand cinematic scale (it could have been made 10 years prior to its making without much apparent difference), it sure took me by surprise. The acting is fair, the story is alright, and the documentary-comments and the weirdness in between give it that little extra to make it hilarious.Anyone who knows what procreation is and who has a good sense of humor would definitely enjoy this movie.I gave it 8/10 due to how original it is, how so many of the comments ring true, and for the fact that it was That entertaining.
