Thanks for the memories!
everything you have heard about this movie is true.
I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Along with Capturing the Friedmans, I thought this was the best 2003 release in America. In 2003, everyone talked endlessly and breathlessly in the USA about Mystic River or Lost in Translation, but I felt Dirty Pretty Things was far superior. I think the story was extremely interesting, and when the twist at the end happened, I didn't see it coming at all, and that's a great thing when you watch a movie like this. This was probably considered Chiwetel's Ejiofor's first significant role, and he was great in it. And Sergi Lopez knows how to play a great bad guy. Audrey Tautou and Sophie Okonedo also did a good job in supporting roles. All around, just a great effort by Frears
This movie is about a Nigerian refugee, that is illegal in the U.K. he works at a hotel, and lives with another illegal refugee that works at the hotel. His boss is corrupt, and takes organs from illegal refugees, and in return they get passports. He learns that Okwe has a doctor degree from Nigeria and pressures him to help him, and in return he gets a passport. Since Okwe lives her illegal he has a lot of trouble with the people that works to get them out of the country. Since they both are here illegal they have to take shitty jobs, and low pay. their bosses disrespect them, and make them do all kinds of things.the movie has low sound quality, you cannot hear what they say because of the accent and because of the background noise. Do not recommend this movie.
This is a movie about two immigrants living in London. The two main characters is Owke, a man from Nigeria and a Turkish woman called Senay. Baisackly this Movie is about the two of them, trying to get a Passport, and they get involved in a bad environment. I guess this movie have a good manuscript, if you are a bit older, and have interest for these types of movies, but to be honest i did not like this movie at all. It was boring, and I had trouble understanding what they said because of their English, and therefore i did not really get much out of the movie. I don't think this is a movie for teenagers, since the movie it self was quite boring, and difficult to understand.
the plot was easy to understand, it was boring. there were no plot twists that made your brain work. the plot was too simple. it gave a insight to the world of illegal immigration and the hardship they go through. the acting was good, it is a bit tricky with all the roles and their relationships. and they acted differently around each character. he was more gentle around some than others. but that is expected of the actors. especially when they had a big budget. the music, sound and cuts were good. but not exceptional. it is a good movie for educational purposes, however i would not spend my or anyone else's time on watching it.
