One of the best films i have seen
Just so...so bad
an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
The first must-see film of the year.
A friend gave me this to watch and asked, "What do you think?" I could only get through 20 minutes. This is a a thoroughly rotten project which makes you wonder who managed to approve the project and, beyond that, approve the script. If I were teaching a writing course I would bring this into class. Every cliché of character, plotting and dialog is present. There isn't the slightest trace of originality in it. For that, there is blame to go all around. With the writer, obviously, but also with the director, producers, stars and so on. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING when they approved and then went along with something written this badly. I turned this off, stunned. It turned out my friend gaze this to me as an example of something really bad. A joke. Well, it was. Everyone involved should run and hide.
This movie is just plain great. I loved it more than I love life itself. Usher is probably the best actor in the world, bar none! I'm amazed that Daniel Day Lewis didn't make an appearance in this cinematic gem. His loss I guess. I saw this in theaters the day it came out and I couldn't sleep until it finally came out on DVD. Now I can watch this timeless classic over and over and over again. I like to sit on the couch and chew tinfoil while I spoil myself to multiple viewings of this blockbuster hit. Sometimes I call in sick and stay home just so I can watch this movie. (Even the credits are a treat) I cancelled cable and sold all my other DVDs as I'm just to engrossed with this movie at the time. I'm watching the movie right now (YAY!!!!). I made my own quiz game based on this movie, I play it when I can't watch the movie , like when I'm driving or at weddings and other unimportant things. My only complaint is that the movie is to short, I wish it would never end and IMDb only let me give ten stars when it deserves at least 36.1.3333333333 stars...YAY!
OK, i'm an Usher fan, I'll admit that. However, that doesn't affect my opinion (well, not MUCH). I want everyone who wants a good, real opinion to read this: USHER IS NOT A BAD ACTOR. okay, I admit he isn't Golden Globe worthy, but he really isn't as bad as people say!! Also, for all those commenters saying this movie is racist. ITS NOT!! In the end of the movie, Darell ends up with Dolly. DARELL IS BLACK AND DOLLY IS WHITE!! how can that be racist?? I do think that putting this movie at #17 in the bottom movies is a bad decision. Don't pay attention to that. So, if you want to see this movie, don't listen to the other commenters & go see it!!
Before you go saying how crappy the movie is you should know they had only 25 days to make the movie due to Usher's concert dates!! I would say that's pretty good for a film to be made in 25 freaking days I mean my god thats like one day in filming. Personally I think it's a good film and it has one of my favorite endings out of all the movie I've ever seen. I like the endings that go farther than they have too!! Ron Underwood did good considering the "extreme" time restraints. Oh and check out the soundtrak it's HOT! This movie is sweet and very sincere, I was actually very surprised!! Emmanuelle Chriqui is great to, she plays Dolly!!
