Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

Having heard absolutely nothing about this film or the individual whose life story is portrayed, viewing turned out to be an unexpectedly pleasant treat. Sure, it's overstated: the innocent family man falls into the hands of genius drug addicts who deliver him unto the Russian Mob. Along the way he encounters the temptress of all temptresses and nearly rounds aground through the appearance of affiliation with child pornography. Thanks to the federal government and its law enforcement agents, he is duly warned and emerges unscathed. Back to the wife and kids, PHEW!Somehow Luke Wilson sells it so that it is, for all its far-fetched qualities, believable, just as it is believable that a porn purveyor could blackmail a District Attorney so persuasively portrayed by Kelsey Grammar. That's just one of many delightful scenes in which we learn, time and time again, that crime does pay, really, really well, in fact, until.....let's just say that unwinding the transactions and transgressions turned out to be a good way to go.Strongly recommended for a good evening's entertainment.

As other reviewers have mentioned where did this film come from? Apparently it hardly received any exposure in the states and literally nothing here in the UK. I happened to come across by chance on Netflix buried within their non advertised titles.Even on IMDb there are only a handful of reviews compared to other rubbish out there. So I felt compelled to write a few words in praise.Firstly the cast is excellent, Wlison is so much stronger than his brother as a straight actor, really liked the character and wanted him to pull through, the supporting cast shine with strong performances. I really felt the film was well cast.Script and story are excellent, based on true events (which highlights the .com bubble from a different and interesting perspective). It's well shot, great locations and the soundtrack supports the film. Yes there is some nudity but actually no sex scenes which actually was the right thing to do. How easy would it have been to over sex a film about internet porn.Direction is tight, yes it has elements of Casino and Goddfellas perhaps, but why not? They are great films. In my opinion it has parallels with Wolf of Wall Street with the much over rated DiCaprio, in fact I enjoyed this film more. Just goes to show that big budget and marketing with a studio really behind a film, makes the difference not the story, acting or direction.Should be in your must watch list.

A movie about family values, about vices and how people succumb to them, a movie about money and power and the fact that there's never "enough". A beautifully crafted piece of work that keeps you in pretty much throughout. Performance is great from Luke Wilson and the story goes seamless. One little, probably needless, piece of action that I didn't quite understand why it was there, is the confusion at the end with Russian mafia taking the wrong "thing", but it's probably just me and it's not that bad anyway.Definitely deserves more than the actual 6.7 it's got. Also recommend "Limitless" and "Fracture".

This movie really took me by surprise, it was way better than I expected. Narrated by the main character, Jack Harris, who does all he can to stay above the fray but get's in deeper than he bargained for. The characters are solid, convincing, story is great, gives you a good idea on the inner workings of deals made and ideas created inside the Internet porn industry at it's conception. It shows how the guys who started the first Internet payment methods started out, how they expanded, got in hot water more than once and how the Russian mob and usual vultures muscled and connived their way in once they saw what it was worth. There is the side story overshadowing the whole mess when the FBI takes notice. It is also pretty entertaining in the way of comedy, drama, nudity, it's got it all, a great compelling story to boot. It's got some great lessons and revelations about the inside dealings of the players it focuses on, I watched it twice, watch it, you'll like it.
