Best movie of this year hands down!
How sad is this?
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
This movie makes you feel like you're listening to an audio book. There's a horrible narration of the movie. We turned it off after 20 mins of a plot that was not going anywhere.
I was not interested in this till I saw 'Bad Moms'. A very similar film, but it came first. The Erwin brothers directed it, the ones who made 'October Baby' which I loved it. This film was a slow starter, but once took off, it became non-stop. The entire first act has been just a build up, like how moms are suffering. After that, everything seems so adventurous. It's a one night tale and the plot was developed with a series of confusions. Silly and so random events, but mindlessly enjoyable. It all begins when three moms were introduced like how they're struggling to maintain the family, particularly the children. During the Mother's day, they decide to take off the night and have a relaxed dinner. But nothing goes according to their plan, and so their adventure begins when their car got stolen, followed by roaming around the city at all night. After all, every story has to end and how this one does was revealed in the remaining parts. The cast was the best thing I liked. The story was average, because most of the film was improvised than scripted. So some of the parts were funny, though you won't laugh loudly. The end should have been better, except that part the overall film was better than I thought, only entertainment wise. So I had a decent time with it and I can't say you would do the same, but definitely not bad to try once.6/10
Funny and fast-paced flick. My wife is a mother of three, and she asked me to stop the film a couple of times (we watched it at home) because she wanted to comment on how she related to the main character. Although I'm a staunch Christian, I usually don't care for Christian films. Too preachy. I've often lamented to my wife that they "beat you over the head with a Bible." This film has characters that are Christians, but that is more of a back story. If you are a mom, you'll probably love it, and dad's will enjoy it too. Good family entertainment. I did debate with myself as to whether to rate it a 7 or 8.
It seems as though the writers of this movie are trying to push their religious views on the world. I personally do not believe in God, maybe because I'm a Historian who knows when the Jewish god was invented, and do not like having religion pushed on me. I find it annoying. The story line was not believable, and the acting was not that great either. I believe the point the writers were trying to make was: Christians are good citizens and everyone else needs saving. The entire movie revolved around "God loves you" and going to church like a good, brain washed Christian. I couldn't sit through the movie, thank goodness it was on a premium movie channel and not a rental; otherwise, it would have been a waste of money otherwise.
