Such a frustrating disappointment

From my favorite movies..

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

One afternoon I was working when I received a phone call from my 8 year old daughter. My first thought was is she hurt? Is Mom alright? She had just finished watching Bubble Boy the Movie just shown on Comedy Central.A few weeks earlier I told her about the movie how stupid it was and if you get the chance watch it. Let me backup and explain how I caught this quirky adventure. I'm channel surfing through my TV one rainy afternoon. Something caught my eye. I'm watching a boy in a giant bubble running through the desert. Here we go, I have to see how this movie turns out. Born without an immune system Our star Jimmy (Jake Gyllenhaal) has a life long crush on his next store neighbor Chloe (Marley Shelton) under the objection of his Vexatious Mother played by Swoozie Kurtz who was a real scene stealer in this comical farce of the underdog against ridiculous odds. Some of the dialogue from Mrs. Livingston is side splitting especially the phony ransom note scene. Our Boy takes off on an unbelievable road trip across the country giant bubble covering and all. Jimmy runs into a biker in need and a cult figure along the way to Niagara falls where Jimmy has to halt the wedding of his true love Chloe. Continuity is out of control. Political correctness is never present and the laws of Physics don't apply. Just sit back and absorb a comedy of infantile stupidity. It all works for me as the result was laugh out loud humor. In this age of Hollywood movies where remakes are the norm plus more and more Batman/Superman movies spit out like potato chips at an office party, it's refreshing to see a few writers think outside the box or should I say BUBBLE?

DON'T BLOW IT. I saw a trailer for this film on the DVD of the last movie I rented and it looked like the stupidest thing ever. But then I rented it and when I watched it I was liking this isn't the Corneto trilogy but it's a pretty fun charming comedy. The film opens up with Jimmy saying he was born without an immune system. He felt happy in his bubbled up until a beautiful girl named Chloe moves next door. She would visit him everyday after school. On her birthday however she wanted Jimmy with her but he was stuck in his bubble. She ends up agreeing to marry her boyfriend Mark and when Jimmy sees the gift she made for him he decides to go too Niagara Falls and stop the wedding. Everything in the film itself is charming but not really all that funny. The acting is average to say the least it's like watching your best friend do some of the silliest things you know he usually wouldn't do. When I saw this the first time I actually thought to myself you know early 2000s comedy's are a little bit better than the newer ones. Danny Trjo was my favorite part in the film. I'm giving Bubble Boy a three and a half out five.

I'm not leaping over puddles for this one. I love Jake Gyllenhaal and though he does a good job, the movie sucks. I'm sorry to those who like it. That's fine if you. But it's just not my cup of tea. There were some good parts, just like there is for most movies. But over all I didn't find all that many. Normally I would say if you haven't see it yet, to go so and see it, but not this time. So if you haven't seen it, count your blessings and don't. And you have, good for you, especially for you liked it or thought it was okay. It is my overall opinion that the movie is not that good. And that's okay for me to say so too.It is not a movie that I would recommend.

OK, maybe this is not one of Jake Gyllenhaals better movies, but it had me in stitches. Jake's madness in his acting in this film adds to the appeal. It's one of those refreshing films you can watch, laugh at, maybe shed a tear of joy but not have to think about it after. Yes, it maybe a stereotypical American love story, but it takes the idea and adds a twist of humour. Jake is a guy who has been bought up in a bubble as he has no immune system, so any germs he comes into contact with may kill him. As he grows older he starts to experience things in life that we in our every day lives are used to...particularly girls. There are some really funny moments in this film. If you're looking for a giggle, a bit of Jake cuteness and a night in i recommend this highly!
