Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike
it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
An excellent feel-good movie, What does a feel-good movie do? What this movie does. Why should it do anything else? Laid back pace, laid back humor, laid back results with a full heart and glad smile.
The trailer made out it could be a funny film but the storyline is pretty poor and there's too much swearing and vulgarity which was unnecessary.
I liked it. I know the film itself was not anything special and the screenplay was less than mediocre but why I liked it , is the fact that the film had a great entertainment value and was able to make me laugh and keep my attention from the beginning to the end. It is the right film when you look for brainless entertaining that does not even try to challenge you, that just wants you to sit back and relax. In that matter the film absolutely worked. Owen Wilson end Ed Helms were their usual selves but it was a fun combination that absolutely worked. A fun duo that makes their stereotyped roles fun to watch. It was nice to see J.K. Simmons, who was fun and Ving Rhames. Christopher Walked overdid his role a bit but added something charming to it as well. Terry Bradshaw was great and stole every scene he was in. Glenn Close was all right at the mother, and especially at the end was able to pull out some of her acting guns. Good soundtrack and very easy to watch. Nothing to write home about but at least a good fun relief.
For the first 30-40 minutes it felt like a silly, pointless film. But it really picked up and became a funny feel good movie. I rented this from Redbox and it was definitely worth the rental
