Waste of time
Boring
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Vampirism caused by a virus, ala 28 DAYS LATER, inside a city and the military must "sterlize" certain sectors so that the infected human creatures won't break containment. Human hunters, led by Steven Seagal, move through sectors "cleaning" buildings and streets of the carnivorous vampires. Inside a hospital are human survivors looking for medicine and food, soon finding themselves trapped and needing to find an exit before military aircraft bomb their location. Armed with a shotgun and kitana sword, Seagal(name Tao in the movie), along with three others(Tanoai Reed, playing Tagart gets lots of action) get plenty of vermin to massacre while the rest of the cast just try to escape and withstand an onslaught of vampires popping up time and again as they move down darkened corridors and through dreary rooms, never knowing what lies in wait. Lots of bloodshed, flesheating, guts, and hacked limbs. The vampires are a lot like zombies in that their bites infect victims, and they have voracious appetites for human flesh. Linden Ashby is Cross, trying desperately to convince Lt. Waters(Keith David; THE THING/THEY LIVE)to not send that air strike without confirmation that the hunters(and any survivors they might find)are safe from the sectors assigned for bombing. Not one original idea to be had here.
The movie derives its dramatic effect from the fact the main characters are stupid and continuously make the same mistakes over and over again: 1. They repeatedly split up in enemy territory, for reasons not explained. Although they mostly rejoin some minutes later, again for unknown reasons, it simply doesn't make sense. 2. The protagonists don't use weapons, not even sticks and stones (until one use after 75 minutes). I believe even cavemen had the knowledge that a fist is weaker than a rock. Oh, btw I couldn't figure any reason why this hospital had no windows at all. Of course besides the fact that it would reduce the movie down to 5 minutes, when they climb out of the window. The rest is just blood and gore, no combat choreography, no plot.
Short and simple, it was annoying. A decent movie with some cool camera techniques, but it was un-original and very irritating. The characters were complete idiots. The little girl was annoying, the women were quite stupid, and the men were failures (except for the two hunters). Without spoiling anything, this was basically how it went every time: 4 people are together. 1 of them goes to explore ahead. A zombie comes. The other 3 instantly "run!" without even helping the other person. Oh look, that 1 person killed the zombie, so they can move on. Wait, the other 3 ran back to where they started from and now they're all split up. Too bad.Complete idiots. They deserved to die. By the mid-section of the movie, I was rooting for the zombies. That aside, the rest was okay. Nothing great, but an average movie just to enjoy. Definitely bloody and gory, the action scenes were great, and it had a cliché but watchable plot. All together it's not too shabby, not great, completely annoying, but watchable.
This is by far the worst Steven Seagal movie that I have ever seen. The action sucked, and their was literally no plot. Steven was not even really a main character and I wasted 16 dollars on this hunk of junk. I mean I really thought this was going to be a good movie, but it turned out to be very bad. I thought this movie was going to be like Blade, but it turned out to be a hunk of junk. I have scene much better movies with Steven Seagal. Watch Belly of The Beast, Out Of Reach, Into the Sun, and many more of his movies are very good also Hard To Kill, and Exit Wounds are a few good movies among many more. Especially Driven To Kill and Kill Switch.
