Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
I'll tell you why so serious
Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
So the original Skyline was... well, pretty pathetic for the most part. Some nice CG, but the writing and plot were terrible. And the acting was laughable at best.Beyond Skyline basically starts where the original left off, and turns it all on its head, giving us an actually enjoyable, well written, well acted, and fast paced alien invasion movie. Basically everything the first movie was supposed to be.The sequel not only improves on the original in every way, but it actually greatly expands the story and background of what's going on with the whole invasion, and makes it actually plausible (as plausible as alien invasions go). All the "alien magic" that never got a lick of explanation in the original is actually covered here, and most of it makes a lot of sense.Honestly, the best thing you can do is read a quick synopsis of the original movie, and just dive into this one. It's what alien invasion movies should strive to be.
Rented this at Redbox and watched it last night, despite the new cast change, it was good and executed where we last left our heroes. Though it's focus is on a new set of characters, to have the names Jared & Eline still written in the story and not a remake or a prequel. I mean that might be ok but I'm ok with what this movie is now. I had hope it was the same two main characters I fell in love with, and also I picked a different ending, still it was pretty epic like the first one was. Also what is the deal with people wanting a movie like this to be funny, same could be said for a horror flick. If you take an alien invasion or someone being chopped up funny, there is alot to be said about your character. I know it's just a movie, but at least have some maturity and dignity when watching these films. This film has to take it seriously and thank goodness it did, I didn't pay to see a topic so serious just to make one big run on joke, so yes I'm glad this movie was smart about it. I love Mars Attack but dude that had no right to be funny at all..not that I laughed much.We get to see the aliens more, more of the ship, everything about this movie you get the full detail of, even pretty good martial arts. There is more story and explanation even though I love the story with Jared & Eline in the first movie..it's my favorite, could argue it's a love story! This movie was pretty intense for a first viewing and I really enjoyed it. I recommend you take a look and form your own opinion though , see what you think.
Maybe some minor spoilers here, but come on, what is there to spoil? It's bad. How bad is it? Well, the movie revolves around aliens who steal brains; it starts in LA, then there's about an hour escaping the alien mothership, then they land in Vietnam and everyone knows martial arts, including the aliens (you know, because, Asia). Yes, including the token female, who was a subway engineer at the beginning of the movie. It all wraps up in some kind of macho fantasy with fighting robots and some paper-thin inspirational boondoggles about human resilience. The action sequences are so silly that I just want them to get on with it... but when the action stops, attempts at character and story development are excruciating! Yea yea, the little girl is the key to the blah blah blah... turn this glowing blue orb into a glowing red orb... I'm not saying you shouldn't watch it-you just have to know what you're getting into. I like bad movies. I like movies that try, but are still bad, like maybe they're not quite in on the joke (for that reason, I don't like movies like Sharknado, where everyone is in on it). That's this movie. It's a special kind of bad movie, that might just hit the spot if you're looking for something truly absurd.
As a fan of everything is sci-fi, I had high expectations on this movie. Was a total disappointment seeing meaningless deaths, nonsense drama in the alien spaceship, pointless plot. Complete rubbish.
