If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Being a fan of time travel and Futurama, I could only say that this movie combines perfectly both of my pleasures. If you loved the original Futurama, this movie depicts a higher quality in 3D graphic animation than the original series (no wonder, it was made 3 years after the series cancellation). The plot is simply genius and it also shows a lot of back flashes related to previous seasons, as well as introducing/continuing Fry and Leela's romance story.Overall, this movie is a must to watch for any fan of time travel adventures but if you never watched the series you may not understand some of the sequences or recurring jokes.

I just finished watching it, and I'm not quite sure where to start. One thing I can say is that it was way beyond my expectations for the movie continuation of my favourite cartoon series. The main plot line is that a group of scamming alien nudists (fox has weird imagination by the way) who buys Planet Express and gives Bender a virus that forces him to obey they're every wish. The scammers soon realizes that the secret for time travel lies in a binary code in a tattoo on Frys butt. (Leela: What's the secret of time travel doing on Fry's ass? Fry: It was bound to be somewhere!) Since the time portal is a one way trip, they order Bender to go back in time, then wait until the present (since he doesn't age)to give them the loot. In the meanwhile Leela falls in love with a guy called Lars, and not to spoil anything I'll just leave that there. Also I'll neither spoil anymore of this story, although it would be extremely hard to try anyway. Oh yes, Hermes loses his body and his wife leaves him for Barbados Slim, but the rest of the story you'll have to see by you're self. Now this movie is obviously about time travel, and I must confess this is the most complex and clever time paradox movie I've ever seen. Although it doesn't make a damned sense, it somehow fits together and makes an entertaining and extremely intelligent film that is sure to please an every Futurama and Sci-Fi fan. And don't forget to watch the sequel: The Beast with a Billion Backs.Bender: Hasta la vista, meatbag!

Terrible, TERRIBLE songs. Not a solitary laugh out loud moment. Series continuity is thrown out the window. A dull "story" that was just a grand tour of the show's best moments - bolted on to a supposedly clever and confusing time travel plot that was in fact neither. Racism everywhere, primarily anti-Semitism (the Scammers are obvious Jewish stereotypes) and the usual 'laugh at the darkies' rubbish you always get with Hermes and his family. Cruelty, disloyalty, mean-spiritedness and arrogant misanthropy masquerading as 'satire'. Which wasn't ever funny or thought-provoking. This travesty only gets 2/10 from me because it was well-animated. The almost universal acclaim this *extremely* poor movie gets just confirms for me that with fans you can put any old rubbish on screen with the Futurama logo attached, and they'll think it's the Dark Knight of animated comedy. And I kinda liked the series, too. Awful, just really awful. Did I mention the songs were terrible?

Futurama returns with this straight-to-DVD movie and a few others which will be released in time. Futurama was a quality show (including in visuals; the animation is the same here but after all this time it's not as impressive as it used to be). Bender's Big Score has some good, light humour and a few laughs, but it's not close to, say, the Roswell episode, Godfellas or The Sting. Some jokes made me laugh (age jokes about the professor are always good) but others, for example the fly mutant, did nothing for me.The movie begins by using veiled jokes about the TV show being cancelled and then returning; these kind of jokes can be smart, except we've seen them before (for example, the episode SOBs from Arrested Development). We are then treated to a scene at a nude beach with revealing shots of Leela and Amy (we see Leela's buttocks but the rest is covered). However, the movie then introduces its villains- nudist aliens- who are weak and uninteresting. They can sense and actively seek "information," something the writers came up with solely to move the plot along. The aliens also take over Bender by means of a virus and, discovering the secret of time travel written on Fry's body, send Bender to the past to steal treasures. The storyline becomes a little complex with all this time travel, and in addition, one would need to know the TV series to appreciate the movie. The plot is passable, though some of it (the narwhal, for example) isn't compelling or subtle. This DVD also comes with an episode (or would it count as a short film?) featuring the character Hypnotoad. It was a funny joke in the series, but here, he's mostly just staring at you with his hypnotic vision- there's virtually nothing here, so it's pretty much worthless. Altogether, an okay DVD.
