That was an excellent one.
Thanks for the memories!
I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
I love "End of the world movies" in general, but this one is hands down the best one.The acting is amazing, the plot isn't that complicated (given the situation what else could happen?) and the atmosphere throughout the whole movie si just... Unique.Once you finish watching the movie you're gonna feel empty, and trust me, there's nothing that is gonna make that go away. Just WATCH IT. Nothing else. Enjoy this masterpiece.
Simply, excellent. Everything about this film is wonderful.
I knew how long this movie was going to be before I started it so I just assumed I would be happy with that. When the movie reached the credits I just sat there wishing it was longer because I wanted to see James and Roses's relationship grow a little bit further before James went on his way. I wanted to see them interact a lot more so when James eventually left her I would've had a more emotional reaction to it, similar to what James had.About halfway through I was getting a "Last of Us" vibe with James not being so keen on helping Rose, just like with Joel and Ellie from the game.Overall with the small run time of 83 minutes and some questionable acting aside, I quite enjoyed this (According to IMDb) Drama/ Sci-Fi/ Thriller.
I think high in my list of favourite subject matter is how we would all behave in the face of an apocalypse. Its very often looked at in a very narrow point of view in films, and highly clichéd in big blockbuster films. This film brought a tear to my eye at times, so humble to it's own message, so bowed before its own ending. Never a hint of heroism where it doesn't belong, yet in the end such a tale of heroism in the face of the entire world. If the end of the world happened, we wouldn't ever live or see the "Day after tomorrow"s, or the armageddons, or the deep impacts. We would face our own tiny worlds ending. We would face tiny battles emotionally and physically, in the face of too awesome a power to overcome. This movie conveys every sense of that. A truly awesome film to come out of Australia, and I've seen a few pass me by without making me cheer. Don't expect big explosions, the true explosions are in every goodbye to every character along the way. Could you have done any better... I challenge every one of you... Amazing film.
