Wow! Such a good movie.
A different way of telling a story
If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
I thought Ashley Green gave a OK performance... the rest was inexpressive and soulless. There were too many holes in the story. At the start I thought it might fun indie science fiction film but ended up being another try hard paranormal activity gone wrong.. boo! Don't bother unless you want to see some really well done hair extensions.
Not a great movie if you are watching it expecting to get scared. This has really no horror factor. The beginning starts out interesting and then it gets hokey. I mainly watched it due to Sebastian Stan being in it and I like watching him, but man, he could have done a better film. That's okay, he's shirtless enough so it makes up for it.Ashley Greene, sorry Twilight fans, is not a great actress. Shes very pretty so I figure that's why shes in this movie. They are an attractive couple and it's a good thing they are, if they weren't, I'm afraid I would have turned it off way before I finished. I like the premise of the movie, interesting concept, but the special effects could have been much better. IMDb is making me write at least 10 lines so now I am just filling up space because honestly, I can't say anything else about this movie.
In 1973, a group of paranormal psychologists called on their deceased colleague Charles Reamer. College students Patrick (Tom Felton), Lydia (Julianna Guill), Ben (Sebastian Stan) and Greg (Luke Pasqualino) try to recreate that experiment and something horrible results. Young couple Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben start to find strange occurrences in their suburban life. Ben is notified that the attempt to contain the entity has failed. There is nothing new in this movie. That's not a major problem by itself. There are countless horrors being made and the vast majority are derivative of earlier horrors. The problem in this one is that there isn't anything scary. There aren't even good jump scares. There's nothing here. The use of suburbia and the box store derive no compelling style, tense isolation or creepy undertones. The movie sets up a few interesting visual ideas but none of it is scary.
One of the finest horror films produced in the last 25 years. With incredibly powerful imagery and superb direction, this is a fantastically visionary film of tremendous import. With performances of such excellence they demand to be viewed and cinematography of such stunning beauty that it pushes beyond the limits of any camera, this is one film that deserves to be widely seen. One can not help but be staggered by the screenplay, the implications of the story to humanity, and the overall artistry of this cinema presentation. Thanks to the Chiller Channel, these seldom seen masterpieces are being presented to awestruck viewers on a daily basis. At last, some of the most horrific motion pictures are being seen when before, one had to risk hard earned cash to view them. To see such overwhelmingly artistic films from imaginative directors is well worth Chiller's inclusion in any overpriced cable bill.
