It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

Seriously this is the worse movie I have EVER seen. I've seen my share of bad movies but this is much, much worse than anything else I've ever seen in my entire life. I don't know what I just watched because it wasn't anything even remotely coherent or close to acceptable in any way shape or form. The "plot" (for lack of a better word) was a complete mess and all over the place. Honestly, a fifth grade pot head could write a better story with more substance than this....BLAH! Even for a B movie the special effects were dreadful and the acting was appalling. To those of you who gave this a 10 star rating (or anything higher than a 5 at best) please seek out professional help. I can't believe some of the reviewers actually compared this to Stephen King. Hilarious! What are you people smoking? King has written better material on his toilet paper. To the rest of you who haven't seen this I suggest that you avoid it like the plague. I got it for free and I still don't feel like I got my money's worth.

"John Dies at the End" is not a film for everyone. It's incredibly strange, practically impossible to describe and has no conventional plot elements. It's really like combining "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey", "Men in Black" an "Evil Dead" film and lots of LSD. It's incredibly strange and trippy...and something conventional film viewers probably won't enjoy. As for me, I enjoyed it once I stopped trying to understand it!The story is a bizarro tale of Dave and his friend, John and their weird lives once they try a weird drug they dub 'soy sauce'. Once it's in their systems, they get caught up in a weird battle between parallel worlds and none of it makes the least bit of sense. What follows is one weird CGI explosion after another--and I do recommend you try it if you have a high capacity for the strange. I would try to say more...but this film truly defies description though it does look like the filmmakers possibly intended to make sequels.

John Dies At the End ... Or not ... Since this is a spoiler free zone ... Contains likable characters, an implausible plot, plus more than a modicum of laughs.Played straight throughout, despite risible effects, the acting deserves an award. Some great one liners, easily missed, and genuine moments of lateral thinking.Quintessentially quirky, at times erratic, with tenuous twists which raise a smile. Not for the kiddies or movie mavens - Nor for those dependant on logic. But anyone prone to accept the improbable could certainly find this film rewarding. It's different. Low budget. Yet somehow endearing. Worth watching for Bark Lee alone.

A mind-bending film with so many awesome craziness and bizarre all in one film! This is a highly entertaining movie with engaging story and so much FUN to offer, if you like a fantasy/sci-fi/comedy/action/horror genre smashed up sort of film. There are also some nice GORES scene to enjoy and it gets pretty bloody and weird most of the time. The film is a comedy/horror mainly so don't expect much SCARE here, instead expect some good laughs and thrills along the way! After finishing this film, I can't help but rushing to book store to find this book it's adapting from! I felt like there's much more details that might be left out from the movie and I just can't wait to read it to get more clarification from the story. Overall, it's a mind-bending film with gores, craziness, laughs, and loads of bizarreness to be excited and had fun with, in which you will either LOVE it for what it is or HATE it for its silliness >>A-<<
