Cry_Wolf
After a local woman is murdered, a group of teenage liars create a warning e-mail of a serial killer named “The Wolf”, coming on the next full moon. Strong and Moving!
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
I'm in two minds about CRY_WOLF. I appreciate the fact that it was a film trying to do something different in breathing new life and style into a rather tired genre, but looking back I'm not a fan of the look-at-us-aren't-we-clever type stuff and the rather ridiculous triple-twist ending, which sees any believability the film may have had remaining go right out of the window. Saying that, I did find this fairly enjoyable for the most part, with some decent in-peril moments as a ski-mask-wearing psycho stalks a college and menaces the characters via Internet messaging (keeping up with the times, you see). It's also a film with a better cast than you might expect, with some not-bad turns from up-and-coming actors. Julian Morris (DONKEY PUNCH) is the central character, a British export through whose eyes we see the plot play out. I found something oddly likable about this guy, even though his accent sounds phoney (despite being genuine). Lindy Booth, as the dodgily-named Dodger, the girl who he falls for, also gives a great performance. Most eyes will be on Jon Bon Jovi's supporting role as one of the college teachers. For a rock star, I have to say that he was surprisingly decent in the part they gave him in this movie.Anyway, the running time flies past readily enough and it's nice to watch a film that relies on suspenseful situations and atmosphere, rather than just overdone gore sequences. The filmmakers commit one or two cardinal errors (such as showing the murders right at the beginning of the film – a real fail, that one) and the head-scratching stuff at the climax is frankly unbelievable, but for the most part I was caught up in the story and intrigued about what was going to happen next. A masterpiece this isn't, but if want a little more intelligence than you'll find in the typical slasher fare, you might just like it.
Awful is a pertinent description for this movie. A group of spoiled private high school students reside at a posh boarding school where apparently every student is constantly alone in the dark huge stone structures of the campus, whether it be the dorms, library, or showers (and, of course the showers). All characters lack empathy or any semblance of common sense. As the "drama" unfolds as one practical joke or misunderstanding after another (none of which are surprising or even slightly imaginative), this stinker plods along with extreme overacting and a plot line that seems to have been made up as they went along. I'm bot sure what category a movie like this belongs in, but it certainly belongs in the waste bin. Does anyone watch these movies before they are released?
This was another re-watch, I not seen for some times and I remember really like it back them. After seeing again, after some years, I still felt the same.I liked this movie, it was bit like April fools days, with number of Teens get together and start a rumour about the Wolf Who as killed a girl. The story they made about them self being killed by the wolf end up coming true. Some of pranks were very funny to watch before the killing start! There few twist and turns in the story, When I first saw I didn't she that twist coming at all. 6/10
this movie is nothing more than a psychological thriller, like Number 23 Secret Window. Though not scary, it is fully engaging.Basic Story GuideOwen Matthews is the new guy at Westlake Preparatory Academy, and on his first day is invited to a game in the school chapel with other members of the school, a game called "Cry Wolf." The game is simple, figure out who the wolf is and eliminate them by discovering the his identity. But soon Dodger, the "school queen" becomes bored with playing the same game night after night with same people, and decides to play the game, with the entire school. The next day, she and Owen make a killer, capitalizing on a murder of a town girl a few days prior. They then send an email all over the campus and the students eat it up and start telling everyone about it. But as the rumors begin surge, But as Owen begins receiving IM's from someone calling themselves "the Wolf," Owen and his companions begins thinking that the lie they made is fast becoming a reality.Notes (this is where I tell you things about the movie I enjoyed, and hated about the movie): I absolutely loved the pace of the movie, not too fast paced so that you missed something, but not so slow you are bored out of your skull. But there are parts that some of the actors were just overly dramatic in their lines, which annoyed me. I'm not saying that all lines were overly dramatic, just some of lines were could have been left out, and wouldn't have affected the overall outcome of the movie.VerdictAs the title of my review states, this movie is not a horror movie. It is not scary, not blood soaked fun, it's a psychological thriller like Secret Window, or The Number 23. And believe me the ending is something you will never see coming. This movie gets inside your mind and it just won't get out. So for those looking for a horror movie, look else where. If you looking for a thriller, you have found it. 6/10
