As Good As It Gets
This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.
This is an extremely intelligent film and I feel like some people just did not get the narrative. It is fast paced with strong performances by both Octavia Spencer and Michael b. Jordan. Ryan Coogler is a risk taker and I look forward to what he does in the future.
I have to say that the movie is pretty boring almost till its end since that's the part when things really make sense. Also, I think there are some social elements in Oscar Grant's that could've been developed better. He had a life full of difficulties that would've made his character more human and realistic maybe presenting some glimpses of his childhood, overall violence during his upbringing, etc. Overall, I think the message was conveyed and it is the true brutality. This is a very educational filmed that should be taught in the police, schools, and any other institution where basic human rights are in place, so that we can all learn from this brutality and make a change in our still racist society.
Director Ryan Coogler delivered an impressive debut on 2013er Sundance Film Festival, which delivers the school-book directorial approaches to lead him in just four years to a Marvel-Universe picture of "Black Panther" about to be released in February 2018. Under support of actor Forest Whitaker acting as producer to realize a close 1,000,000.00 U.S Dollars production originating from a Sundance Film Institute Film program and additionally backed by the Weinstein Company seated in New York City, the festival's audience decided to put the director and his lead Michael B. Jordan on the map for Hollywood distribution. The film follows 22 year-old Oscar through bay area of San Francisco on New Year's eve of year 2009. He encounters missed job assignments, a pushy girl-friend, calling where is the money, and his daughter at a care-taking shelter home, before getting shot by a police officer on the name-given Fruitvale Station platform.Watching the movie, the streaming pace looks in place at first glance. OTS-shots get combined with standard hand-held close-up coverage to deliver editorial coverage. Some extra b-roll shots of subway trains and the bay area support the atmosphere of the picture. Nevertheless some artistic ingredients is missing to lift the picture beyond any supported Sundance institutionalized film, which may lead to an indecisive stand for a directorial vision against Marvel Studios Excutives for the upcoming "Black Panther" (2018).
IMDb description of this title,"The story of Oscar Grant III, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident, who crosses paths with friends, enemies, family, and strangers on the last day of 2008"If you are going to watch this movie after reading this description, believing that this movie is gonna be like some drama, suspense or thriller like that...please don't watch it.The movie is much about characters personal life rather than actual incident & this is what makes me disappoint. Direction was good, at many places it touches to reality. But apart from that i don't know what director was trying to focus..is it character or is it incident ??
