Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Such a frustrating disappointment
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
The obsessions of the two men, but especially Benigno, were just plain creepy. He spends the whole movie stalking her, rapes her while unconscious, and the story is a tragedy about him (in part)? Seems like it really misses the point. I understand trying to examine the other side of the story as this does, but it came across as more of an apologist piece for rapists to me.That being said, it was very engaging and well crafted. I just think the message as a whole was off.
I have huge respect for Almodovar and I am quite fond of his work, but this movie was that much bigger disappointment. It started lousy but I didn't quit because it's Almodovar and I was quite sure it will soon get better. So I waited and waited and waited and finally I realized I'm waiting for longer than hour. I can not say it's bad cinematography or lousy acting. Of course it isn't. I mean, it still is Almodovar. But it remains mystery to me how he accomplished to turn such controversial topic into movie this boring and futile. I already rated it 3 or 4 in my mind, but decided to finish it when I already came that far. I have to admit that ending twist was pleasant surprise and I as even touched a bit. Also I realized that ending wouldn't be nowhere close to its strength and meaning if there wasn't for that boring part. But also without those last ten or so minutes, everything that preceded them would be an unwatchable crap, and that's something to which I really can't turn a blind eye. In some cases finale is so great that it makes everything before it less important, but this ending was nowhere close to that level. Ending is for maybe seven or so, but because of agony you have to go through to get to it I can not rate this movie above barely average level. Recommended for devoted Almodovar fans only. The rest of you better skip it.5,5/10
The story is about two men and the girls they love who are now in comas. I really loved the beauty of the movie. The actors are fantastic and they are greatly helped by the entire cast and a weird but good story.Though initially I felt like that, the ending of the story made me change that opinion. I thought about it a lot. It was an ethical ending, but not the one that did poetic justice.Maybe if it was a documentary I would have liked it more.I personally would not recommend this movie, but seeing that it has a massive 8.0 rating here, I guess I am the exception.
Talk to Her, directed by Pedro Almodovar, is about the friendship between 2 men caring for 2 comatose women. With TTH, go in knowing very little about the plot and brave yourselves. This movie is an emotionally devastating juggernaut full of gut-wrenching story beats, moral ambiguity and meticulously constructed themes. Although TTH takes a little while to get going and certain things feel a bit illogical, once it hits its stride you'll be unable to look away. While the performances are all around excellent, the star of the show is Almodovar. His script is disturbing, haunting, moving and never boring, and the way he constructs the movie visually is brilliant but also ingeniously subtle, meaning he doesn't resort to loads of flashy visuals to tell the story. It's a film which rewards repeat viewings enormously, and the film is so layered and complex that you'll constantly be re-interpreting the film and noticing new details. TTH is a really excellent drama and an unusually intelligent one at that. It shows an auteur at the top of his game and to study and analyse the film is like studying and analysing a great novel. It's a film that's really worth checking out, just don't read any spoilers beforehand. It may not be a thriller, but it will leave you breathless.9/10
